THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I swear to god, Wenger's antics - arguing with the 4th official, wailing his arms around like a lunatic, creates such a negative atmosphere for the players.

If he has any respect for the players, fans and club, he will learn his fuking lesson and stop acting like he does. Because its not a joke when suggesting Steve Bould was a difference. Bould's calmness allowed the players to play with free rhythm and movement. You take the nerves out of players, and they perform so much better.

Its also more evidence of just how much Wenger is not only not needed, but how he can at as a drag on the team. How much more evidence do people need before the wake up and realise Wenger is a liability? Mental strengh and calmness should come from top to bottom. But doesnt Wenger cut a pathetic figure on the sidelines? It pains me to see just how much of a nervous wreck he is. Eyes bulging, shifting in his seat, losing his composure hence the constant fighting with officials and wailing his arms around.
I'm sorry but that is absolute tosh!  Wenger has created an atmosphere of absolute zero consequences or repercussions for the players. They have no fear because he cuddles them whether they win lose or draw. His antics have no impact whatsoever. Have you ever been on a football pitch? You very seldom even see your manager whilst the game is on ffs. What he is up to has no impact on players - unless he is roaring directions or abuse at a player, which Wenger does not do. Have you seen the chav manager acting like a hysterical schoolgirl on the touchline, running around in circles, flapping his arms, yelling at the lino, the ref, the 4th official - and look at how shit they are doing... oh, hang on...

As for Bouldy? Are you serious? It is an absolute joke to suggest Bouldy had any influence on that match or the players. The line up, the game plan (for what it is), the timed substitutions, the team talk would all have been decided by and planned by Wenger on Friday and then Saturday morning. What decided that game was rare good form from the Ox, a refreshed Welbeck and an incredibly shit Southampton.

The rot in our particular team is not down to Wenger on the touchline. It is down to his arrogant refusal to take a pragmatic approach to tactics and in game management, and his persistence with his favourite players no matter what form they are in.

I think Wally said Wenker was there pre match to do the teamtalk (go out and play) and even at halftime too - so it was hardly any type of punishment at all - should have been a complete stadium ban in my opinion.

Does your company not have some kind of intelligence requirements before taking on new staff ? Of course the flip side is that when they took you on, any standards they had went out the window
