THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

All those hacks like John Cross and Ollie Holt are part of the problem.
I for one have been calling for a change for 5 years, and I don't claim to be the only one, the fault lines have been there for 6 or 7 years.
But all the while, through banner protests and physical confrontations in the stadium, these 2 have continued to just blow smoke up Wengers arse, rather than pose him the questions he should has been fending off years ago.
They kept him in a fools paradise.

Alan Brazil was saying that some players were having a go at wenger at the end , i hope this is true.

I have supported Arsenal nearly 50 years , how sad is the situation when i say that i despise Wenger. I have a silver reg but have used it once this season and not much in the past 3/4 years but i keep it as he will be gone one day.

Too many years of same again , 10 years of it. For how many years did we cry out for a goalie and a DM ,how could he never see it ???

We moved to Emirates to compete , no we never compete but we qualify ! great.

But yet again the crowd need to be vocal because if they are not he won't be going anyway , we need mutiny from all angles.

Is there anything that us on here can do about it , because i am fuucked if i am going to spend out for another game with him in charge.

Wenger staying on from here would actually be his "greatest ever achievement", there's absolutely no way back now. He's done. The players have all given up on him, we're struggling through every game no matter the opposition - lost to Watford, 97th minute winner against Burnley, limped past Hull - and all those games were at home. We'll be picked off by all the "big boys" from here on in - no chance of top 4 this season and with all the top 6 still in the cup then we're done with that the very second we get drawn against them.

IT'S OVER......HE'S GOOSE IS COOKED - AU REVOIR :barscarf:
Rodders, take a look back through this forum over the last 8 or so years. How many times has all this been said? How many times has he bounced back? I wish you were right, but he has the luck of the devil, the support of the money-mad owner, and a combination of AKB cult-like worship and too many WOBs that are now just too demotivated to bother protesting and have mostly just stayed away, to be replaced by tourists that don't have the decade's-long emotional investment in the club.

Watch him get the run of results that brings the media back on side. :|
I know where you're coming from but there's never been discourse like this, it started after the Watford defeat, was ramped up after the surrender at Chelsea and is a runaway train after tonight. When he signed on previously there were only murmurings of discontent, there's a full scale revolution on the horizon this time.
Maybe not..in the unlikely event of victory at high flying Sutton, he might just recover. No doubt the entire team has been given 4 days off to recover from last nights mauling..

As if the style of play is sacrosanct. By that reckoning, Arsene Wenger should never have been allowed to take over Arsenal in the first place.

So basically we need someone who can continue in our losing "style"?? Because obviously we don't want to change to a winning "style", we just want a different losing" style" manager?? Idiot!!

Main article on the BBC website this morning

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38991573

Decision on Wenger's future to be made at the end of the season - a new contract remains on the table.

Isn't this what the crafty, parasitic bastard always does? Put out a message via a friendly media that everything needs to wait until the end of the season, once any chance of protest has gone away. He knows full well that once the last match is played, we all schlep off home and there is no possibility of any dissent against him.

I'm starting to despise Arsenal. :banghead:

The run of results aren't coming. We will quite probably do enough to sneak into top 4 again, but in terms of big fixtures left we have plenty we will lose.

Stoke, Spurs and Liverpool away - our recent record at all three is shit and wouldn't be a surprise if we didn't win any (or lost all three even). Look at our last four PL fixtures which includes home games against United and Everton as well as trips to Spurs and Stoke. Chuck in the inevitable FA cup departure given the number of big sides still left in there and it will be difficult for anybody to put a positive spin on things.

If that all did happen, the so called "worst-case scenario for Wenger and his cult" you know what we would then get presented with don't you, mate?

"Arsene has earned the right to turn it round next year"

and

"Only Arsene can fix this"

The problem is that there is no one at the club with either the spine or the motivation (or lack of self interest) to sack him. So we are relying on him deciding to leave. I honestly cannot see his crazy ego letting him admit to himself and the wider world that he has failed and that he is not the best man for the job. This is how out of whack Modern Arsenal now is. :|

The result of one game changes nothing, this is why lots of people call Arsenal fans fickle.

Yeah because no-one on this forum wanted Wenger out before last night's result.

It's the media morons like Cross and Keown that are fickle.

2012 - Milan 4-0
2013 - Munich 1-3
2014 - Munich 0-2
2015 - Monaco 1-3
2016 - Barcelona 0-2
2017 - Munich 5-1

It's just one game you ungrateful, fickle bastards.

ONE ARSENE WENGER, THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER :barscarf:
