no euro place for clichy!!!!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Evra and Abidal aren't half bad though!

Anyway, at least Clichy will get a nice long rest over the summer now

just shows the strength in depth france now enjoy. compare with england.

when i was at school and did french, the teacher told us that that football was popular in france. i couldn't believe it. this was in the 70s, before they made the 1978 world cup finals. god, how things have changed since then!

Sacre bleu! Definately pleased Clichy's gonna get a rest but cant help thinking it can't be good for us in the long term if he's continually overlooked for the likes of Abidal (who has been utter shite every time i've ever seen him play!). I just hope he doesn't feel in order to get a look in for France he has to be playing for a Barca or a Man'Ure cos that's the only reason I can think of for Abidal to be picked ahead of Clichy.

Still, in the short term at least France's loss is our gain.

Their loss is our gain, a nice long break for young Gael will definately be to our advantage 8)

It's a big shame for the lad as he deserves to be there. But, from an Arsenal point of view, a Summer off is going to do the boy no harm at all. He played every league game this season through necessity, so he certainly will be in need of a break.

This is good news for us and bad for poor clichy cause with the way he's played this season and to not even make the squad must be hard to take, but oh well at least we'll get a fit clichy ready for next season! France have got quality throughout their squad and I think i'll have a little wager on them to win it. did anyone notice that raul and bojan also did'nt make the spain squad even though they've also had good seasons with real and barca. These sides really put england to shame with the depth of talent they've got!

I think Bojan pulled out before the squad was announced for "personal/family" reasons but yeah you're right about the depth of the squads France, Spain etc have compared to In-ger-land. Benzema, Henry, Anelka, even Saha and/or Trezeguet would walk straight into the England squad... well in Saha's case maybe not walk, more like limp, but I'd take a crocked Saha over a fully fit Darren Bent.

Unbelieveable that the best left back in the Premiership can't even go as a no2 left back for France, but i'm not complaining. As said, Clichy could do with a holiday after this season.

He deserves the holiday but I think he would much prefer to be playing for France. Personally I'd pick him before Evra or Abidal. I don't know how he didn't get in the squad at all....
