Wenger Out protest thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

All of you who organized this, absolutely great work. The coverage in main media, also outside the UK has been much better than expected. :barscarf:

The club can't brush this aside, no way in hell. :barscarf: :barscarf:

Thought it was a good effort last night. Thanks to those who organised it and those who went to the effort of making banners etc. Was good to meet some of you if who I spoke to there was anyone off here :)

A few hundred is a good turnout. A few thousand would have been better obviously but it was a good start.

Had a real pain in the arse journey so got there a bit later than I wanted but as I was approaching the top of Avenell Rd I heard the 'We want Wenger Out'' booming out into the night sky. Well done lads! :barscarf:

It was a pity seeing the old east stand covered in scaffolding but was good to stand there with real gooners for the first time in over 10 years and walk those old streets again. Don't ever walk that way now since we moved to the other ground.

Didnt have match tickets so after we made our way away from the ground to find a few pubs I couldn't help notice the contrast between those at the protest and those milling about around the ground who were just there for the game. They just seemed oblivious to the problems and I heard people talking about mundane things line ups and who might score the first goal ... no dissent against the manager or thinking the game was a waste of time. Just seemed detached from it  .

Lads. Seriously. Well fucking done. :barscarf: 8) 8)

Proud to be an old school Gooner last night. Fuck the media. We all kinda expected there would be an element of piss taking and belittling of the protest by these pathetic hypocritical fucking hacks. Fuck them. It does not matter if it was 150 people or 500 people really. It's a first step. A first step that garnered a lot of coverage.

A lot of the waverers will have looked at that protest and then the second 5-1 humiliation by one of the teams we are now supposedly "competing" with at Europe's top table and then thought about their ticket price and the two cúnts laughing on the bench and then thought "those protesters are fucking right". Last night can only have swollen the numbers of WOB. We may still be in the minority, but it must now be a huge and growing minority.

TBH I still don't think the protest is enough to get rid of Wenger for all the reasons I've stated before; Wenger does not care if we love him or not because his ego is beyond that, Kroenke don't care once the money comes in, and Gazidis is a puppet, so Wenger ain't getting sacked. But one thing did hit me last night. Wenger's ego that won't let him walk away? Maybe that ego can be provoked into retaliation? By "retaliation" I mean Wenger not leaving because he "can't handle confrontation" (which is bollocks tbh) but more a case of his insane ego maybe saying "Fuck these plebs. They don't deserve me. Fuck them, I'm leaving and they will reap what they sow. They'll be sorry". That just might be the only way we get rid of him tbh. :|

Comedy gold of the night was flip flop PigLips Druggy Ferdinand and his priceless; "be careful what you wish for". Utter fucking moron.

Yep, in Finland indeed. The coverage has been actually quite good. Yesterdays match wasn't their main event at the national broadcast but the studio for the Napoli match did talk about the protest and Arsenal match commentator was very aware of what was happening outside the Emirates.

Haven't seen todays newspapers yet but there will probably be a lot of coverage about the protest. Premier League football is very popular here and there are lot of fans here for many different English clubs, as for Arsenal also.

Before my mates and I stopped going to matches a couple seasons ago (our own private little protest I suppose) we used to make a point of always going for pre-match bevs in the Gunners so that we could walk by the Old Girl on the way to the Conglomerates. 8)

You're probably right but what is the most important thing here is the huge media attention this protest got. I think it is way better what any of us even dared to dream of. But as you said in some other post (or was it OneBard???) that this was just a first step on a journey to something bigger. I truly believe in that.

I actually said it in my first paragraph! :D  But yeah absolutely right, it is a first step and a hugely successful first step. 8)

it is actually scary what the match going fanbase is now like.
the actual result doesnt seem to matter anymore - people seem to go to be "seen" in much the same way as people go to Royal Ascot etc.

I actually really hope that we do not qualify for the CL for the next few seasons to hopefully get rid of these sort of "supporters"

Well done to everyone who organized and attended the protest.

It's really amazing that you guys did what the larger groups were never going to touch. I hope that it goes some way to convince Wenger not to sign a contact.

Actually that makes me wonder... lads, was there anybody at the protest openly representing any of the official (or semi-official) fans' groups?
