Wenger Out protest thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Re: Wenger Out protest - Sunday 2nd April 14:30 Man City (H)

Post by Sean »

I have passed on Xisstential's banner to Nick.

I've had a few suggestions, but they seem to be getting lost in the pile. Still no word either way on a Colney protest from any Hertfordshire based Gooners. We would need at least 20-30 there and they would need their own transport, as the training ground is over three miles from the nearest train station.

I hope the plane does fly at the weekend. The mobile billboard idea is great, 'In Wenger we rust' is great, perhaps with a 'Wenger Out' underneath and maybe a mention of the £8.3M per year he gets for his failure. Other side of the billboard could have all the humiliating results in the past decade or the bullshit quotes from TOF himself. The Gazidis quote is a must though. It sounds like the billboard is not digital, we need that clarified.

The look-alike would be a laugh, but I fear that anything more than a one-off would cheapen the protest. It seems likely we'll find out what TOF decides after West Brom, with the club finally putting some pressure on him, thanks to our vocal protests and resolve to force a decision; so the plane getting up there is very important. It's scandalous that they even offered him a new deal, let alone allow him to dither on it for months and ruin our season again. In the real world, you're lucky if you're allowed 24 hours thinking time to sign a contract.

It sounds like a protest at Wembley is now an option, with the draw against Citeh. I'll be up for that, if a march is called on.

Quotes, pics anything all on a loop
Im sure your nephew could email them a digital file with it all on it

Like I said it was coming in at 750 + vat last season.

Just before you pull the trigger do you think its an idea to look at that option.
It would be a massive statement. And again, in-case you missed my post......there was one at the bear roundabout opposite the steps on Saturday at kick-off time
Maybe but that sounds like a shitload of work to put together... I dunno if I'm going to have time to collect all that info, all that data...its like a full time job. Lets see what the mock up looks like??

Okay, as it's not a digital billboard;

WENGER OUT on one side.

Gazidis quote on the other side.

Then there's a question of which side we want facing the stadium. Perhaps the Gazidis quote; as the press can photograph the Wenger Out side with Cashburton behind it, which would be a great image that we can use.

That, combined with a 6.5 per cent increase in season-ticket prices and the sale of the club to Stan Kroenke, led to a tough ride for Gazidis at last night’s question and answer session with more than 200 fans.
But Gazidis left no doubt that unless the fans turned on him in numbers then Wenger’s job was safe.
“Ultimately Arsene is ultimately accountable to the fans — they ultimately make judgment. If you are seeing the relationship between the fans and the manager break down over time that is unsustainable. But I don’t think we are anywhere near that.”

Dear Gooner,
around 2005 the BVB supporters have been protesting against the Manager (which in Germany is not the coach!) and the President due to the financial crises of the club. The theme was: Not for sale
and a lot of demonstration and marches were before the games, away and home
http://bvb-fanabteilung.de/wp-content/u ... bochum.jpg
http://www.schwatzgelb.de/2015-03-10-ku ... arsch.html
It has been ten years since our association was facing financial collapse, insolvency, dissolution. Ten years have passed since the fans got up and demonstrated. Against exploitation and driven by the fear of their beloved ball-game. The 14.03.2005 was a memorable day. The starting aid for all that we have been able to experience in the last ten years - a history of the resurrection that has never happened in football.

Let us all look back with pride and humility to remain critical in the here and now and to help shape the future sensibly. "Not for sale" was the motto of a fan march in the run-up, and it will be on Saturday when we start at 3 pm at the Friedensplatz to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the rebellion against the destruction of our club.

Good luck for your creative protest!
Cheers, Thomas

It looks as if some of those on here are doing amazing work, but may well becoming weighed down a bit too much.

Might I suggest that when an idea is put forward - the rest of us have 24hours to make any comments, further suggestions and then that Trio make the decision based on those suggestions, recommendations etc.

My work hours are all over the place at the moment and so I cannot guarantee I can come on here every day. But I would happily place my trust in three of us who have the agreed say so to go ahead especially if a quick decision needs to be made, otherwise we could end up going round and round in circles:

It is obvious that some are for certain ideas and some against certain ideas, because of the perceived lack of time - we do need to get as many things done to publicise our cause and so increase the level of awareness publicly and so help increase pressure...We need to so that should there be any doubts over wenger signing another contract that we put the spotlight on those doubts

So: for me

The Plane - A Good Idea - that may not happen due to weather conditions

The Mobile Lorry/truck - For me an Excellent idea as it will be seen at close hand by plenty of Gooners and hopefully also the staff going into and out of The Bowl, I would include board/players and MANAGER in That.

The wenger lookalike - again still a valid idea - But, if we do go ahead with it - then it needs to be done in a way that looks 'professional.

The Ballons / beach Balls still have relevance - because they will keep Our Cause in the public eye...in many ways we simply need to keep it in the public eye as much as possible for as long as possible - at least till we know the outcome of of whether the *word censored* signs or not...If he does, then we change strategies and get "Serious" as in the gloves are Off!

I know there are all kinds of ideas being put forward which is great - better to have too many than not enough, so everyone DO keep your thinking caps on and keep making suggestions, But Please don't get annoyed if an idea is not taken up....this is a time for Gooner unity and not ego's.
Ok the guys I am speaking to are Jumpers, Pete on the Beach, MattyB and One Bard....so let's see how we go with the mock up..if we agree it looks good we can go with it. I think the other side needs to be filled with 6 or 7 of his BS quotes. He cannot deny it, HE SAID IT!! I realise we are not going to please everybody but we need to ALL get behind whatever is decided. We all want the same thing. If the plane flies and the Billboard goes ahead we are looking at £1800... we already have about £2250 and climbing.....so we can explore more options after this. I think the beach balls for an away game will definitely work.

I also like the idea of a lookalike carrying a 4th place trophy. The press will LOVE it and Wenger will HATE it!!

Totally agree on both counts.

The international break often leaves a massive vacuum and we have to make sure we are filling it this weekend with an all out assault on Le Fraud.

Lads, to be honest, you boys have done more than anyone on here to make this happen. I think I can speak for all of us (and I invite any counter arguments of course) when I say, to ensure things actually get done, we should defer to yourself xisstential and Jumpers, Pete on the Beach, MattyB and One Bard for final decisions. I trust you guys implicitly as I'm sure the rest do. You guys are hands on. You make the decisions. And thank you to each of you. 8)

I agree with what the midget mod has said - there have been countless suggestions up to this point, but now we need to back off and let the organisers pull the trigger on what they think works best. Sometimes too many voices makes it hard to hear anything, so for now lets back off and let the lads organize the plane protest and the mobile billboard, and when they are ready to discuss our next moves we will resume our suggestions chat 8)

I joined in at the Bayern Protest. Personally I thought the racket created under the restaurant area really created attention with Diners looking down forks halfway to their mouths and the waitresses running over. It would be an embarrassment to the club and therefore very good PR for us. I say target the Restaurant and Directors entrance. Keep it peaceful but make a racket.
