I would have thought that printing and mass-producing a two-sided glossy with some key bullet points and supporting text on why Wenger must go would be a relatively way of taking our message to many thousands of those who will be going to the game. We could hand them out in the 45 minutes before kick off outside strategic locations where large numbers of supporters will be arriving (e.g. Arsenal, Highbury and Islington and Finsbury Park stations as well as the entrance to the North and South Bridges).
It seems to me a great way of reaching many of the critical mass of supporters who will otherwise be going in to the ground oblivious to what we're doing, and I would imagine it would be relatively cheap (compared to planes, billboards etc) to produce, say, 8,000 copies
I'd be happy to help with the wording and content (I have the "Neill must go" one from 1983 on my cv!) but would need others with art and design skills to make it look the part and to negotiate with printers etc.
Any thoughts?
Not a bad idea Bob, we could get some very pertinent points out to may people, including the huge number of fence-sitters. We need to ramp this up, keep it non-abusive (that's working well for us so far), but make it VERY personal towards Wenger. Some are worried that this might divide the fanbase, but we have to move beyond being paralysed by fear of possible repercussions.
We have to concentrate our aim at all the old Fraud's biggest weaknesses and failures and highlight them constantly....repetition is a proven marketing tactic in getting a message across....because puncturing his ego is the only chance we've got.
Our actions have to be weighed up and carefully measured and we must continue to refrain from foul abuse, but trying to appeal to the tastes (and be conscious of the sensitivities of) 60,000 Gooners (plus the hundreds of thousands who aren't at the games) is not possible. It has to be ramped up and if some fall by the wayside, then tough. A weak, fearful approach, will get us nowhere. In my opinion, no matter how bad the rest of the season gets, they ain't sacking him, or even leaning on him to walk, so it's the continental-sized ego that we have to get at.
Our banners and chants need to list all the constant failures, his never learning from experience (because of course, the great man has nothing to
learn !), the CL losses, our dismal record against the rest of the top 6 etc etc. All this could be easily listed on a double sided A5 flyer.
Downsides :
1. We would need to move very quickly. Getting art-work and layouts sampled up by printers, then getting the results proofed and the print run done, does take time. We have enough time, but need to get moving if we do this. obviously Bob, you need to PM one of the organisers.
2. You'd need to be a bit mob handed when handing them out. Leaving someone standing there alone with 500 anti Wenger flyers in his hand, would invite the attention of a group of akb.
