THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Read Lehamnns comments. Said something about one of the players kicking the ball into the skye to knock the airplane out of the sky.

Really Jens. You suggest the players defy the laws of physics to help Wenger. How about they just put more of an effort it??

Another former players who think he played for Arsene FC, not Arsenal FC.

Used the ball to kick the plane out of the sky????

All they had to do was shoot from outside the box, that would have done the trick.

And he calls on the players to protect the manager more??? Forget about the ST holders, the travelling fans, the groundhog days we endure, the dreadful results...no,no,no, forget about all that, the manager, the one responsible for this malaise, needs to be protected.

There is a cancer in the club, from top to bottom, and it needs cutting out. And it starts with Wenger.

Todays Sun.....

And the biggest thrill of all will come when Arsenal’s board attempt to justify the new contract with the caveat that Wenger has promised to change — a line they’ve been secretly peddling for weeks.

Hand him a new contract out of dewy-eyed sentimentality or Utopian dreaming if you like, but please don’t pretend he’ll change.

After 21 years, the one thing we know for certain about this bloke is that he is neither willing nor able to do that.

Changing, adapting, moving with the times, is simply not what Wenger does.

He is a pig-headed ideologue to the core of his being.

Even if he does 'change', why has it taken year of repetitive failures and an exasperated and furious supporter base to prompt change?

As for the 'change', how will the 'change' be defined and enforced??? Or is the club saying Wenger will 'change', but really he wont.

The board treat us like fuking idiots, because among us, are those like Ty from AFTV - wet behind the ears, gullible naive wide eyed fans who digest every false promise.

Jake Humphrey pretty much asked him the same thing when he said he was ready to go to the next level. Why aren't Arsenal at the next level now was the question and typically he couldn't answer.

Sorry, mate - but this is just another Wenger thread. I'm gonna merge it with the main Wenger thread.

Letting employees go around choosing their CEO and stay for as long as they want regadless of performance is a pretty abysmal practice for a plc.

Surely the purpose of AST facilitating fans holding shares is that it enables them to hold the board to account on these sorts of matters (which are shocking from a general corporate governance perspective never mind footballing)?

STATEMENT:
Black Scarf Movement says no new contract for Arsene Wenger

http://www.blackscarfafc.co.uk/bsm-says ... enger.html

I've been critical of Black Scarf in the past but they are the first fan group to say #NoNewContract #WengerOut

Made the point on another thread that the reference to "unless he wins either of the two biggest trophies" is utterly obsolete and seems a strange thing to put in at this time, given that we have been out of the CL for a fortnight (and five weeks really) and are 19 points and 5 places off the top.

Has this statement been drafted some time ago I wonder?

If I remember right, then even more pertinently, he asked him to define what the next level would be, what was the success criteria in effect. Of course, Wenger didn't answer it, he's far too clever for that, but his evasion was telling. The last thing he wants is a measure with which he can be judged.

Have you noticed that when interviewers asked him difficult questions and put him on the spot, his facial expression looks as though he could happily stab them.

Then you've got to hope that Danny Mills or Phil/Gary Neville are his next interviewer.

 Nice idea, but sadly, those dullards are representative of most of the media and would never ask him searching, yet obvious, questions.

The funniest thing was when he was asked why we aren't already at the next level, and he replied that it is because he has to keep coming out and defending himself to the media   No reference to a lack of tactics, motivation or heart, because it is the journo's that are holding wenker and the club back  :censored: :blah: :blah:

From 2 minutes in: this is the change Ebenezer Wenger is capable of, if we only give him one more chance after all these years
