THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Reading various opinions here and I know Le Fraud is the luckiest man on the planet, but I really can't see us getting top 4. We have to win 3 games in hand to catch Liverpool and two to still trail C City by a point. I'm well aware that nothing is won on paper, but I've just looked at everyone's fixtures and unfortunately for Wenger, it's 5th place for us.

Liverpool have by far the easiest run in, the toughest game is against Soton and even that is at anfield. City's run in is slightly better than ours, but Utd have a bastard of a fixture list (bar a soft game at a place called the Emirates). I'd say that the final positions in the league will be as they currently are, except the reversal of ussand Utd.

Did I ever tell you lot that I've got 30 years in..........zzzzzzzzzzzz ?

We would need a points total in the high 70s ala 13/14 season to get in and this means losing no more than a single game out of our remaining 9 fixtures. I just can't see this happening and I agree we are set for 5th at best. 71points got us second last season and we are course to hit this target which tells you just how poor the league was last season. Good lord I'm trying not to care but the fraud has got me hooked :(

This is a pretty dire prediction, but it would never surprise me if it turned out this way :

Wins:
Boro (A)
S'land (A)

Draws:
Palace (A)
Leic (H)
Stoke (A)
Everton (H)

Losses:
Scum (A)
Utd (H)
Soton (A)

Variables : Draw Soton and Utd, Loss E'ton.

This would put us on 64 or 65 points. Mind you, it does look incredibly pessimistic and will no doubt will wildly wrong !! :D :barscarf:

Top 4 is not so important now that we probably wont get it, just ask OGL he will tell you so.

Already looking forward to Thursday night on channel 5 with 40,000 at the Emti-rates.

I'd happily take this under a new manager.

New manager + UEFA --->> Wenger + top 4.

It's probably the new contract....

.....for Gibbs, Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain!

Good to see Wenger sticking with the British core that has served us so well these last few years!

anyone think we'll win one more game than united and two more than city ?

plus, Everton and Leicester are both coming into form.

btw Wenger just set a new Arsenal PL record - 4 away losses on the trot. :cussing:

Yet another steaming turd served up by The Old Fraud tonight. Humiliated by Palace, to add to the ever-growing list of humiliations this old intransigent bastard has bestowed upon our (once-)great club :censored:

Just 51 days on his contract left, but you can bet the stubborn old cúnt will sign another deal and bump up his wages by £2M a year. Don't forget his little £500K rise per season as well.

Before this turd performance tonight, I'd have agreed that we still had a chance of winning the VT due to Citeh and Liverpool's erratic form, Manure's Europa run and our games in hand, but as Retro says, I can't see us getting more than two wins for the rest of the run in. Tonight's humiliation sealed it. Europa or bust - And it doesn't even matter if TOF is still here next season stinking the place out with his utter lack of management, instruction and coaching. TOF has more front in the face of utter failure than Steve Kean at Blackburn.

Even John Cross tweeted tonight that the board can't give Wenger a new deal and that it's time for change. Must be the fucking end of days.

Henry Winter's Twitter is worth a look too. The bloke wouldn't be out of place on here with his views on Wenger and this side.

how come everyone can see this outside of The Arsenal but they can't :
Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce, speaking to Sky Sports: "Tactically the players were aware of how to beat Arsenal. The first thing was to defend and frustrate them, keep them playing sideways, then use the space behind the full-backs. Arsenal have been weak defensively, they leave the centre-backs exposed.
is there any team or Manager that hasn't worked it out ??????

oh yes. wenger.

In fairness Arsene will drop round to John's later on with a free programme and some friendship lotion....Cross will be back in camp wonga by morning.

Tbh i'd take Wenger appointing his replacement because whoever it is will be on an absolute hiding to nothing. Expectations will be wildly optimistic or ridiculously pessimistic either way he'll struggle to meet anything with the amount of rebuilding required across the entire structure of the club.

Any new Manager unless supremely lucky will end up like Moyes because the AKBs will hound him because he is not OGL and the first bad result will be heralded as proof they were right. :rubchin:
