Re: THE WENGER THREAD
There's not a chance he was involved in negotiating the terms of the finance deals for the stadium. Which is largely my point. He isn't responsible for the finances of the club by any stretch.

So in order to keep Ramsey, Walcott, Giroud, Coq, Monreal......... We need to keep the wages of proven match winners down. And then of course we mustn't forget Wenger's wages...we don't want a ceiling on that do we now, God forbid Wenger storms out over a wage dispute.

It's just bullshit PR from the club so they can spin it that greedy Sanchez left for money rather than the real reason - he can't piss away another second of his career at Shit For Brains FC and his merry bunch of cowardly, spineless, loser DICKHEADS

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I thought it was very telling in the press conf. on Friday that he made a point of mentioning that his relationship with Kranky was still as it always has been ie: Kranky thinks he walks on water. Remember Kranky said publicly that Wonga had a job for life!! This was Wonga laying down a challenge to Gazidis, saying you have no hope as I have the owner in my pocket!!
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I wouldn't read too much into that. When you listen to his press conference it's quite clear Gazidis is dealing with the negotiations and apart from being kept informed about progress Wenger has little involvement. He expressed an opinion and the media have created a story from it. The more you listen to the fraud the more he looks increasingly isolated.

I especially like the quote where he says 'That is why you have to make the decision in an objective way. Always the club has to be the priority" - obviously objectively doesn't come into it when deciding if a senile old dated manager on massive wages is offered a new deal, and clearly misguided sentiment is a bigger priority than the club itself

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
His answer will be: "of course we aim to win every competition we enter, but there can only be one winner".Wish one of these journos would ask the question 'Why do you always seem to want to compete for 4th place, why is your ambition for the 5th richest club in the world not to win the league?'
We had this spin in 2009.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Yep but I think unlike in the past (RVP etc.) no one is buying this crap from the club anymore, it took a long time but most have now woken up to the fact we are just a loan guarantor for Silent 'club killer' Stan.rodders999 wrote:It's just bullshit PR from the club so they can spin it that greedy Sanchez left for money rather than the real reason - he can't piss away another second of his career at Shit For Brains FC and his merry bunch of cowardly, spineless, loser DICKHEADS

Just 4 points off the Chavs who are at Old Trafford tomorrow. My life might have to get fucking cancelled yet, too close for comfort. This shit was going on again last year before they soiled themselves towards the end, pray for the same outcome this year. Not comfortable with this shit at allBob Bayliss wrote:St Totteringham's Day will be a leetle bit cancelled this year.rodders999 wrote:17 points behind the scum....we've never had it so good

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
17 points deficit to Tottenham. No doubt Wenger will argue 'its the first time in 20 years'. Just like he said 'its the first time I have conceded 10 goals in an aggregate defeat'.
Ill tell you what, that bar is set high for Arsene. He really does aim high.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Maurico Pochettino is what fans look for in a manager. Someone who exceeds expectations and surprises the fans with results they didnt think possible.
Even in recent times, Arsene has always been 'spend the 4th most, finish 4th'. Talk about a vanilla and boring manager.
Thats one of the biggest killers for me - how Wenger has just sucked the life out of football. No point dreaming as a fan with Arsene as manager.
Other fans have managers who fill them with optimism, pride and hope. Why cant Arsenal fans demand this? Why do we have to fall into line and support a boring repetition of following a team thats only purpose to to finish high enough to sustain a business model to ensure the continuation of revenue. Although this year, we have fallen out the back door of plummeted. 17 points adrift of Spurs in 6th place, and facing an ass fuking when we visit WHL in a few weeks.
Oh Wenger, you have killed any sense of optimism at this club.

The worst part of all this for me is that None of this; the current situation need have come about.
Things could have turned out so Differently - We could have had both Trophies and Profits.
Yes, wenger did very well to persuade everyone to move to a bigger stadium - I remember thinking "I'm not so sure about this", but was eventually persuaded by the proposals and arguments that we would become even bigger and more successful as a Football Club, though like most on here I miss Highbury more than I can admit - The Bowl was never going to be on a par with the home of football, but it could have eventually been a new home proper, but because of how the financial deals went down after the move - in that members of the board, who having initially said 'We don't want his sort (wiggy) here' or words to that effect, only for them to sell their shares and so the soul, prestige, name and reputation of the clubs glorious history and honour all for the sake of quick high profit, it transpires that we the fans the true soul of the club have been betrayed.
I believe that had wenger stepped down at the end of 2008 - a new momentum could have been initiated with us able to hold onto the clubs honour and traditions, but because of his arrogance and his inflexibility as a jaded football manager, combined with his greed for profit and power we now find ourselves as fans of something that is so far from what we grew up knowing and loving that it not only feels alien, but sad and angering.
I honestly do not know if Wenger can truly comprehend the harm he has done and is doing to the Arsenal we all knew and love/d. I used to regard him as a decent, honest hard working man who brought me some of the happiest moments in my life as a Gooner, sadly I now regard him as a traitor, as someone who has sold us out, who is a liar, a fraud and an enemy of what was something unique and (still) rare in English football.
I always thought of THE Arsenal as my extended family - the older sibling that could make me happy and angry both at the same time, the sibling I loved. Now I live on memories because it has changed beyond ever being able to return to what it once was.
I know the world of sport has changed greatly in the last 10 years, part of those changes being most prevalent in football - But wenger to my mind has knowingly made decisions which were not his to make, unfortunately because the club was sold by what we thought were custodians of its traditional values to someone who doesn't give a shyte about history, tradition or the sport; other than as a product by which to increase profits, he will act for the best outcome of those profits and wenger being the kind of person he is will go along with that philosophy of profit first, trophies secondary.
Which brings me back to my opening it was wenger who persuaded everyone to give up Highbury and move to a bigger capacity, state of the art stadium literally a stones throw from our 'Home', I now ask myself did he really do it for sporting (as in competitive) reasons or did he actually see Profit as the main reason, using profit as the excuse that we could then compete with the richer clubs.
My brother and I once met wenger (briefly - as in exchanged niceties, shaking hands - autograph etc) in his second season at Arsenal and like everyone else it was a big day for me and my brother, if I met him now that meeting would go very differently.
Where the fuck did it all go so terribly wrong, .
