The thing is Babu, as I've said in my previous post (and in others before), if it really was a simple case of people being "fucking morons", then I'd understand it, but I know and I'm sure everybody else knows, plenty of very intelligent people that still fervently support him.

Frankly, it's driven me up the wall over the years, because their faith is counter-intuitive and they can't actually back their belief in him up with any rational argument (I suppose what they say is rational to them !! ).....maybe your religious parallel is apt.

However, these are people that are otherwise coherent and logical, who are generally "successful" in life and they are long-standing, proper Gooners. I simply cannot understand their position and it frustrates the fuck out of me. I've analysed and over-analysed this crap and have even got to wondering whether we've ended up with a pseudo Northern Irish Catholic / Protestant, or Jew / Arab situation, where feelings have run so deep for so long, that even in the face of rational evidence, people dig in deeper and refuse to consider alternatives. Forgive me if that's too much of an analogy, but I honestly wonder if we have reached that point.

anyway, blame Wenger, or Kroenke, or the board all we want, but the real problem at our Club is our fanbase. If enough people made a fuss, he'd be gone overnight, but bar a virtual handful of supporters, there just isn't the appetite to act....even amongst those that want him gone.

Also agree totally that the english football fan is to blame. Not just Arsenal fans, all english fans.
Look at safe seating. Would be so easy to implement if everyone got behind the idea, but they just can't be arsed.

I will give you a small example of little Switzerland, the land of chocolates and cuckoo clocks ( NOT, but I digress ), where there is a Law for everything , we all carry ID cards every day, and we're all little model citizens.

My Club built a new Stadium on the site of our old Stadium in 2007. They promised a standing terrace, but then suddenly there wasn't one.
Seats in the whole Stadium.
Did we just sit there and do nothing. Did we fuck!

So, at the start of a normal game, we had a huge flag covering the home seated end...everything normal...



Then this happened...

All the chairs had been unbolted!

That's fantastic How the hell did they manage to undo so many bolts so quickly?! Obviously they were well prepared, but you'd think they'd need some kind of power tools for any stubborn bolts. Very impressive. And you are right, the British are too passive, always have been and it's the same politically. We shrug our shoulders and mutter "what can you" and carry on taking a kick up the arse. Whereas the French etc torch a few cars in them centre of Paris.

I was telling anybody who would listen today you think he would have pulled that stupid PR stunt if it wasn't Boro?? You think he'll play 3 at the back v City when everyone and his dog knows we'll concede even if we play 6 at the back!!

The man is shameless, trying to show people that after 20 years,he is flexible, he can adapt, he is listening......

One good thing, say what you like, the hounding of him and the Wenger Out campaign has shaken him. ALL of them over there. We need to keep it up.

Personally I think it was because after the Palace game, during his interview, Alladyce told everyone the blueprint for beating Arsenal.

I was under the flag.
We managed to get in about 100 spanners, they were relatively easy to remove, only 2 big bolts.
1,800 chairs removed in about half an hour.

The best bit was screwing them back in on the wednesday evening after the game, as promised, so as to stay on the right side of everyone.
The most difficult bit was having to get the numbers right again, as when they were taken out we just threw them to the front.

It made the news, and we can now stand.

There was no agreement beforehand.

The Communiqué released by the Organisers after the Action stated that they would replace the chairs that week.

Clever move, as it proved that the chairs could be removed quickly and effortlessly ( which was one of the reasons why the City had said that the standing area was impractical ) One problem with the Ground is that it is used for the Golden Meeting in Athletics in the summer, and the seats have to be all in for that. Also at UEFA games, has to be all-seater... there were a few reasons. Also of course you get out of being charged for any damage, or wilful destruction, etc., etc

It is a long story, with plenty more sub-plots, but it does prove what a bit of elbow-grease or leg-work can achieve.

Which is why it is all the more important that people get up and do something.
Investing an hour or two, or a day or two, or a week or two, to be part of History.
