Apparently, we are taking the wonderfully-named Tawrik Jebril on trial

But after reading that we might Saha on Goal, I am not even sure if this Gerbil guy actually exists

He appears to be a "blood and guts" defender who can head, chip in with a goaland is not slow.
Anyone else?
I dont bloody think so. I think he is too slow and needs a few acres to turn

Ok then, would he be an improvement on any defenders we have at present?augie wrote:Charlie! Charlie! wrote:There is speculation that West Ham are trying to buy Steven Taylor from Newcastle, I quite like him.

Not in my opinion charlie if I'm being honest. We all know that we need a strong physical centre back that is good in the air and I feel that it is a sign of how deperate we all are that we are being linked with the likes of taylor and indeed richard dunne - I personally think dunne would be a better option but I am still not convinced about him either. Of all of our centre backs song is the one I have least faith in (and yes I am including swiss phil in that) and I agree that taylor and dunne would be better than him but good enough for us in the long term ? Not sure I'm afraid

I think I, like others, am thinking of a better squad as opposed to first eleven which is our main priority.
I think Taylor is a better defender than both Song and Phil but you are probably right that he is not first eleven material.
As a possible future International he won't leave Newcastle to be a bench warmer so that probably rules us out anyway?
Arsene, just get it done to stop the speculation!!!

According to Rob Draper in the Mail on Sunday:
Arsene Wenger's new Arsenal team will begin to take shape this week with the signing of Samir Nasri from Marseille and negotiations to take St Etienne midfielders Mouhamadou Dabo and Blaise Matuidi to London.
Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez is being lined up should Emmanuel Adebayor continue to demand £80,000 a week and the arrival of 20-year-old Nasri will pave the way for Alexander Hleb to leave.
