Ferguson to quit?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Ferguson to quit?

Post by flash gunner »

A Manure fan that i unfortunately work with, actually he is a decent bloke unlike some we all know, has a theory about our mate red nose. He reckons Ferguson has always said he wanted to quit at the top and considering he is now 66 he seems to think tonight might be the last game as manager if they win, lets face it you cant be more at the top than winning the European cup having already won the league also if they win tonight it makes him the best Manure manager ever (if he wasnt already) with 2 Euro cup wins.

When you think about it it does make sense really it can only go downhill from here for him unless he wins it all again next year. Might be another reason to want the Chavs stuffed. What do you reckon?

It's definitely possible, and this has been said in quite a few places. but at the same time you get the feeling that Ferguson will die by the side of a football pitch. He's just moulded another very good United side which has got at least a couple of years of mileage in it, and whilst he's fit and healthy I don't see him quitting.

Isn't he close to catching the scousers league title haul? I heard on the radio the other day that he could be looking at that tally?

Oh please please please.

What Charlie says might be right. I'm told the old drunk's first priority on taking charge at Castle Greyskull was to "knock Liverpool off their f**king perch", so there might be some unfinished business there.

HE IS STAYING REGARDLESS OF THE RESULT. IN AN INTERVIEW ON SKY THE OTHER DAY HE SAID SO HIMSELF.

I think he should go out on a high....either drug-induced or a very high building is fine with me. 8)

Heh heh. Don't care about the method as long as it's soon. I realise people might find this distasteful, spiteful, bitter and hate-filled, and I'd normally worry about wishing death on people, but given my loathing for the man and his club, I'll make an exception in this case.

Being selfish I dont want him to go yet - when he retires I want it to be in a period where Arsenal are winning all trophies and wenger getting all the plaudits 8)

I can't see it happening to say the truth. I mean what is the point, when he's probably got his best squad ever? I don't think he looks at his passport and as long as he is enthusiastic (which he still is, judging by his trademark ramblings) as he ever was, he'll continue.

I can't see him beating this, even if he overcame Liverpool's league titles he would only then be lured by the European Cup record. Will he be champions of Europe and England again? Best to get out on a high while the Glazer's damage is limited rather then stay on and never get so high again.

However he will probably stay on as long as he still feels the fire within himself to succeed

Hope he dosn't go. It's always fun listining to his moany wingy voice after we beat them. Hope fully we will get to hear that voice at least twice next year.

An agreement has been reached between Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid and now the Spanish club have to convince Manchester United to sell. (Spanish sports paper Marca, 1350)
