I take your point Flash, but for me, and I don't give a flying fuck what any hipster modern fan thinks, it's tainted for them. It's been bought. And no Arsenal fan should have any respect for them, even begrudging respect. They are everything that is wrong with the modern game. I know one chav fan. Played football with him for near on 20 years and he dropped his season ticket, stopped going (after 30 years of travelling over for hundreds of games) and now goes to Charlton instead (fuck knows why he chose Charlton ). I get what you are saying DB10, but I do not agree with your devalued comment - football has moved on (albeit not for the better), and living in our smug principled world aint gonna count for shit when trophies are being handed out. You could say our success is tainted as we moved to North London purely due to financial issues, then were accepted into first division under somewhat controversial circumstances. It's the way of the world. Our winning history started in the 1930's having paid a world record for David jack in 1928 and has ebbed and flow since.
However, MirrorSport understands the club has now moved strongly towards Wenger staying but in a new backroom structure.

If I'm a player in the dressing room, I would feel that he is no longer untouchable and that the board no longer believe in him - if he had the unconditional support from upstairs, why would he need to change what he believes in ?
For me, if you take away what a man stands for and believes in, then there is nothing left and that is why I have long felt that wenker would be off cos he wouldn't agree to those demands - if he now accepts the demands, it is an acknowledgement that no other top club would want him now

It's clear that he wants to stay on and wants to keep as much power as humanly possible. If there really is no contract on the table now, this could be the club finally letting it expire. That's why if they keep him on in spite of the past decade, it really will be all over. The big question is, does TOF want the job itself more than the power within the job? All fine and as I said, I don't give a shit who agrees or disagrees with me. That's how I see it and that will never change. Just because something is the way it is, doesn't make it right. I also don't believbe the only solution is to be pimped and spend billions buying a winning team - even nowadays. If we had a decent manager over the last 10 years, I believe the purchase of 2 or 3 top players every couple of years (or as needed) would have seen us win at least another 2 or maybe even 3 or 4 PL Titles. You don't need billions to do that.
