THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So WTF is going on with the morons who run our club?
I think he is lying, how can he know the final will have no bearing on his future if the contract is still up in the air?, he is just trying to take the focus off the issue of him staying/leaving.

I don't think there is a contract signed but the problem is instead of having a contingency plan the board have backed themselves into a corner, they don't especially want to offer him a new deal but they don't know who to replace him with, basically rank amatuer.

The board, Wenger, Kroenke - all a bunch of w@nkers. I hope we finish 10th next season and the 40,000 fans who bother to turn up spend all their time barracking the lot of them.

My gut feeling on the Wenger contract is they have offered him a two year and as a Board they are trying to gently negotiate whatever changes they want to see, be it a DOF or whatever, without making him storm off in a huff.

I also have the gut feeling they will "agree" with him that he won't be offered an extension in two years and that they will sell this idea to us the fans and to the media morons as basically Arsene's decision and as Arsene then "sacrificing" himself for another two years to "steady the ship" and "help with a smooth transition" while the club try to find a replacement for the irreplaceable Jesus Arsene Christ himself. Their hope being that this would difuse the discontent and protests to such a level that the plan can be "reassessed" in two years time, if need be... :| :censored:

It's a classic PR strategy and tbh it's what I would do if I was a football club owner or Board member type cúnt. :censored:

I think that we all know that it wont work this time - we know that a lot of fans will go back to be silently unhappy if he signs a new deal, but there will be a lot of fans who will still be visibly vocal on a frequent basis, and many others will join in when the inevitable shite results come along. For me there is absolutely no way in the world that they can successfully sell the idea of wenger signing a 1 year deal much less a 2 year deal - like it or not there are a lot of our fans who want wenker out by in a peaceful way, and they have sat quietly over the past few months (while others have protested) because they felt that this summer was going to bring the happy ending they wanted (wenker's reign finishing without him being sacked or hounded out). Many of those fans will be, along with the rest of us, horrified at the prospect of a failed manager and failed system being retained for another game much less another season. We (the fans and the club) have the perfect chance for a half decent outcome here - wenker steps away gracefully and the club doesn't have to sack him cos he is out of contract. Signing a new contract ensures, in my opinion at least, that wenker's reign will end with his sacking - the club and him might try to portray it as one of those "mutual decisions" things, and they might even try to use medical grounds as an excuse for his departure, but everyone will know that he is being moved on cos he is now a failed manager

My mate has integrity. Your neighbours are (like 99.99% of chav fans) bosh bosh dollop loadsamoney chav cúnts.

Let them enjoy their short-lived decade of success. These things go round and round, and when we are shot of Wenger we will have huge success again, and we will make new history to add to our long history, and all they will have is their little 10 years of pimped wins, and people will look upon them as what they are; a small nothing club that bought success temporarily and went back to mediocrity.

Tell your neighbours to enjoy themselves. Tell them I think they are cúnts, but enjoy themselves.

But in their hearts Flashy me old mate, in their hearts and souls, they wish they could be The Arsenal, they wish they were a big club, they wish they were respected in the game, they wish they had our history and our tradition and our stature, and most of all they wish they were not just the local joyrider that tried to buy his way into the golf club with his lottery winnings. 8)

You could be right of course augie but I honestly think your scenario is wishful thinking. I believe if all the shit that he has fucked up over the last 10 - 12 years hasn't gotten him shit-canned by either P Diddy Hollywood or Wiggy then this season isn't near bad enough for them to actually sack him.

Tbh most of our fans are sheep. They will accept the fob-off of "just 2 more years". Of course there will be vocal objections and protests but do you honestly think the majority of the sheeplike denizens of the bowl will do anything other than give him some kind of bizarre sick 2-year send off of undying love and respect? :|

I seen Robbie from AFTV interviewing fans on Sunday, and (being the AKB muppet, he is) he asked fans, if Usmanov took over the club, would it give us a greater chance of success, as Wenger, would have more money to spend. The same AKB'S, who used Wenger's lack of spending as a badge of honour, and who talk about 'financially doped' clubs, now want Wenger spending hundreds of millions. Also, it's not like Wenger has had to shop in the pound land transfer market, as we have spent plenty of money in the last 3-4 years, but most of it, has been on shit players.
