Re: THE WENGER THREAD
It's unforgivable the way he went on the attack and criticised the fans before the cup final and then declares his new contract a few days later. You don't speak like that unless you're super confident the owner has your back. The so called message to the fans was hardly a call for peace. Can't walk away and allow him an easy ride for the next 2years. The opportunity will no doubt present itself next season when he and the team go on their usual walkabouts and he will get it with both barrels.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
“Of course we’ll try to strengthen our squad to be strong next season, but we want to be faithful to the way we want to play the game. We want to support this way [of playing] all together.”
The only quote you ever needed to read to know that nothing at all will be changing - its all about being faithful to the project, and "trying" to strengthen the squad......which of course is code for sitting idly by for the next 2-3 months whilst all the other top clubs do less "trying" and more "doing" when it comes to signing the best talents available.
I'll be absolutely stunned if we finish as high as 5th next season, and regardless of whether its Brighton at home or Man U away stick your house on our undercooked makeshift team losing the first game of the season as we limp back in with our supposed top two players not committing their futures, a stack of injuries and only the no mark from Schalke and the Nigerian/Belgian as our only new signings. So all in all a bit like the season when he said "you can not sell Fabregas and Nasri and say that you are a big club" or perhaps the one when we sold RvP for "footballing reasons", or back to where it all started when we got £5m + Tiny Tears Gallas for Europe's best left back.
Fuck off you old scrote - take up bloody gardening or something

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Heard a soundbite from the old fraud yesterday about how much he loves the club because they have the same values as him. How I would love a journo just once to ask him what those values are exactly???
The reason he continuously spouts this nebulous, sage like bullshit is because he knows nobody will ever dare ask a follow up question. Imagine hearing ...."Would you care to expound on that Arsene, would you tell us what those values are that you share"??? God how I would love to hear him answer that....
Anything to do with the 8m,being completely unaccountable, having complete autonomy, being rude and dismissive to everyone who doesn't kiss your A$$.......Those values???

I expect most on here have read Kevin Whitcher's editorial from yesterday. He included this quote from Wenger after the contract renewal:

Probably wouldnt have spotted any difference unless told but that quote is actually when he renewed in May 2014 rather than this latest one."We are entering an exciting period. We have a strong squad, financial stability and huge support. We have gone through fantastic periods and also periods where we have had to stick together. Every time when that togetherness was tested I got the right response. Hopefully we can make some more history. I am sure we can."

I think you're onto him mate

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I’ve often likened Wenger’s powers of survival to James Bond. Just when we're led to believe there’s no getting out of it this time, somehow he does.
Seems like a cruel twist of fate that Wenger completed his latest escape the week Roger Moore (the no.1 Bond
) sadly passed away. So Wenger even out survived Bond

Swiss Tony Adams wrote:The problem is that we won't tumble into mid-table. It's almost impossible.
This is Modern Football. We are in the set-up, but we are second tier.
We have the TV money, the sponsorship deals, the matchday revenue and the commercial income.
We pay high wages and can keep a second tier squad together without any problems.
We may tumble down for a month or two, but we have to consistently finish without European Football for it to have any effect.
We have to fail to qualify for Europe for at least 3 or 4 years in a row for it to hurt financially, so that means at least 5 more years of this mediocrity with Wenger.
The way our Club is set up is unique in world football now. We have Wenger at the top, then Kroenke, then no-one.
We are second tier, and are happy with that. It's still a lot better than all but 20 Clubs in the world.
We should be in that top tier, but Wenger is here for at least the next 5 years as manager, and then he will go to the Boardroom.
We are never getting rid of him, and we will never get to the Top Tier. That is the reality.
A fucking depressing analysis from Tony, but I fear it's very accurate.

Honest to fucking god, I really dont get the notion that some fans have, in wanting to keep Wenger but sell Sanchez and Ozil.
Who does Martin think we could replace Sanchez with? Because I for one think if Sanchez goes, that its highly likely Giroud will be our starting striker next season.
Some of our ex players are either thick as fuck, or are so invested in the idea only Wenger can manage Arsenal, that they will spew out such insane commentary to prop Wenger up) -
Is Keown on fucking dog-food? I want Ozil to stay, but you can at least make a case for why we should let him go, cutting our losses and all that. But Sanchez? Wtf!? We'd have finished about 10th if it wasn't for him. Not to mention his cup final goal which saved Wenger's skin![]()
I'm not sure what's safe to say, in terms of not landing this forum in legal bother, so mods, strike this post out if necessary.
I can only conclude that Keown, a man for whom I once had great respect, is in the pay of the Club, either financially, or in some form of benefits or privileges. He never struck me as an idiot, but these comments about Sanchez and Ozil are crass in the extreme. I doubt that he believes them for one second.
As others have said, it's pure misinformation and spin, designed to soften up the dozy, compliant fanbase to accept their departure, to even see it as a positive. I agree with the consensus on here that Ozil, superb technical footballer that he is, would not be a devastating loss. He's a luxury that we can ill afford, given the laissez faire attitude of most of our side. He needs a team where others win the ball and those in front of him make intelligent and incisive runs. Neither of those things are happening at our place.
To suggest that Sanchez has been indulged is lunacy. How has a guy that always gives his best AND produces results, being indulged. Theo, Ramsey, Giroud and plenty of others have certainly been indulged for years, constantly picked and lucrative contracts renewed, despite total underachievement on the pitch.
Keown is helping to set us up, but I suspect that the attempt to paint Sanchez as an indulgence we can do without, or even as the villain (yes, that will happen soon), might be a tough sell, even to our moronic supporters.
Then again......TO1AW.....and after last Saturday, he's King of the World.

Agreed he is totally wide open to questioning and he will if asked the right questions totally flounder....xisstential wrote:Heard a soundbite from the old fraud yesterday about how much he loves the club because they have the same values as him. Remember the perfectly innocent question from that BBC guy...
"What is the next level Arsene?'
Reply....er...er....the next level up...
That was fucking hilarious
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
is this the start of the Arsene FC lockdown
I know it says pub, but could the club also have a hand in this?
No way i hear you say, next they will be sending stewards to Man City to confiscate Wenger out banners!
Arsenal Fan TV pulls in around 12 million views per month but it seems not everybody is overly enamoured with how they conduct themselves.
An Arsenal pub in North London is keen for Robbie and his crew to be barred from carrying out interviews in or around the club’s plush stadium:

What planet are some of these ex players and pundits on? The only ones who talk sense and don't brown nose him are Burley and Robson.
The rest of them flip flop every week, change their opinions on players and still THINK HE CAN WIN THE LEAGUE
Lineker and David f***** James have come out and said he can win the league again.
These blokes are living on a different planet.
