THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wenger obviously looking at some explanation to his obvious gross negligence on letting contracts wind down to the last year, been doing some digging.....

“We have 107 players in England who go into the final year of their contract. It’s a complete rotation in the way people see their careers.”

Manipulating, scheming devious wanker......

  I keep saying it, but you have to hand it to the old bastard, he's fucking brilliant. He knew that he'd get questioned about the final year of contract fiasco (which is totally scandalous), so did his research and comes up with 107 examples. To the moronic (aka Arsenal supporters) and the uninitiated, it makes our 5 or 6 in this category seem insignificant.

Now, we know that out of 92 League clubs, our proportion is clearly above average. Most important of all, the vast majority of the 107 will be players that are about to retire, or move down a level, or are crap and no longer wanted by their club. What there won't be, are many players worth 40, 50, or 60 million, who we'd love to retain, but who'll walk away on a free, waving two fingers at us !!

The fucker knows that no one in the room will have the details to hand and given what we've seen of our illustrious sports journalists, very few with the brain cells to analyse it correctly.

The man has forgotten more than Nicolo Machiavelli ever knew.

Top post, Retro. 8) The only bit I'd add is that no one can survive 13 years in any top club without winning the PL unless they are devious, cunning and have an inate sense of self preservation. Whilst 100 years from now History will probably look kindly on Wenger by remembering his first 10 years and all but air brushing his last 10 years (or last 20 years  #may2025) we the fans know now that his true talent is his ability to stay in the job. :|

His guile and cunning are extraordinary but his pact with the devil saves him time and again.
The FA Cup wins and his remarkable record of getting into the chumps league without spending money have kept Stan happy and papered over a lot of cracks .
He's also lucky that the press are such dullards !

Can you imagine...all this shit going on at the club...huge problems on the pitch, players leaving, players short and ALL he can think about is himself...how to protect himself. So he orders somebody to go out and find these specific numbers for him, so he can show what he is doing is not unusual...in fact it's cutting edge. How far away is he from claiming that clubs are following the AFC blueprint for this type of genius trading??

WHO GIVES A FUCK?? Are we going to challenge for the title, are you going to continue with 3 at the back, are you going to replace Sanchez in January... answer something relevant, something to do with the demise of our football team. This, ironically is how we got into this contract mess, because Wenger spent the last 3 months of last season focused totally on himself, his needs, his future, his contract...whilst all the while players contracts were winding down... now he wants to try sell it to us as "planned" The man is borderline psychotic.

Look at the 2 youtube clips BFG4 put up...The real Arsene Wenger, the bristling, nasty, vindictive dictator.

Ghastly man!!

I do wonder how many of those 107 are of the calibre of Ozil and Sanchez.
Any idea if he is talking about just the premier league or all 92 clubs in England?

All this talk of Dressing room clear the air talks is crap, he is sitting in his office trying to come up with some weird explanations to his failings, so he can then feed out to the media

One thing he is not doing is preparing the team for Bournemouth on Saturday....... :banghead:

Don't worry Red, he'll have them prepared in his usual way........two minutes before kick off, he'll turn off the whale song music in the dressing room and say, "Look, just go out and play your game". Then in an aside to Steve Bould, "Remind me, who are we playing today?" .

After Anfield and Stoke and the transfer window I was nearly convinced that the end was nigh...The Sunday Supplement last weekend was another breath of fresh air with the journalists finally admitting where the problems really lies.
But fast forward to Wednesday/today and the AKBs are resurfacing on social media..The international break has taken the heat of the fraud to a degree and his loyalists are finding their voices and keyboards again..
They are confusing loyalty to the team/club with unconditional love for Wenger...The resistance isn't going away lightly.

I think a lot of people underestimate the resilience of AKBs and their die hard cultish behaviour. Strangely a lot of them are old school Gooners who will tell you it was much worse in the 60s and 70s. They don't see the distinction between supporting the team and supporting the regime. What's worse, they will tell you they see the need for change but won't do anything about it.
