As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
The first part is spot on - Sanchez has set such high standards. Unlike the rest of the halfwits he has to share a dressing room with. Sanchez is not the problem here!
Give up Mark...Sanchez is getting the blame. If he stays he'll get ALL the blame for not carrying the team on his own into 4th and if he doesn't, he'll get the blame for upsetting the "balance" of the team in the first half of the season.
And as for the man who allowed Wilshire, Ozil & Sanchez's contracts to run down whilst securing himself a juicy new one....well what about him???
The landscape has changed now with the injury to Jesus as well...Pep might come in for Sanchez right now. Be interesting to see what Wenger does......despite our fans heaping all the clubs problems on Sanchez's head, Wenger knows to get 4th he is going to need him. So what is going to be more important, the 30/40m or 4th place?? Two years ago it would have been the money, now I'm not so sure, Wenger is absolutely desperate to get back into CL so he can continue to build his CL "taking part" legacy. Maybe he'll see it as worth 40m?

I really think Sanchez unsettles some of his team mates, because of his total commitment and will to win.....thats why they do not like it
As for contracts....Wanker Wenger himself said after delaying his own contract all season that it had a negative effect on the season....of course nothing said
As for City they are at the stage where they can buy top players just to add to squad and stop other teams buying them
And today really was one of those days for Lacazette - utter shite. Lightweight, caught on his heels all the time, ball bouncing off him. Didn't contribute a thing
And that is Lacazette. Great at times, average at times, anonymous at others. Better than Giroud but nowhere near the sort of striker who can win you titles.
None of us can tell if he is good, bad or average. Our tactics mean that he hardly gets any chances and when he does get the ball he has 6 defenders around him.
Regardless of how we feel about sanchez and ozil as players, there shouldnt even be a debate about whether to sell or not, IF a bid of £30m+ comes in for either of them - we all know that we will be an awful lot worse off without them, but they aint gonna be here next season anyway so taking the money to reinvest in replacements should be an absolute no brainer even though we know that wenker will waste the money anyway Can you imagine the fun we will have next summer trying to replace two players worth approx £60m-£70m each, with no transfer funds to do so ?

Re-invest in replacements
The answer is not always to buy.

‘What would you do if someone gave you £100m to spend” - “give it back “
Of,course no blame will be attached to Wenker for the clusterfuck of a season that we (nearly) all foresaw-(wasn’t difficult was it)
Those naughty naughty boys just wouldn’t pick that darned pen up
I have every confidence that Wenker will have learned from his mistakes, he just needs a bit of time, he has earnt the right.

I agree with what you are saying, but in general terms the principle doesnt change and unless your club is competiing at the top of the table, no club or manager should even consider allowing two huge assets to walk away for free - it has been very bad business to allow these players to run down their contracts like this, but to allow them walk away for free would be a horrendous and disgraceful decision
One other point that seems to be completely ignored, is our sacrificing of the power here - we all agree that we dont want either player joining another premier league club, but in the summer we will be powerless to stop that happening, and we need to be selling them abroad NOW to stop that happening imo

Augie, old bean, I agree it’s a complete farce
How on earth can you pay £40m for an asset and get no return on it yet say it is a good position to be in ?
How will Kronke react to the news that 2 of the teams biggest assets (Lacazette being the other) are off, for nothing and replacing them, regardless of who with will cost a minimum of £20m even for joe average.
Keep them till the end of season and hope to squeak into 4th or sell now and get a return on them with no chance of getting top 4 due to losing 2 quality players that can win a game.

Wenger stated it was the perfect position to be in, as players basically put in more effort when their contract has run down...apparently
Southampton have just squeezed £75 million out of Liverpool for Virgil van Dijk. I wonder how much Wenger (being the financial genius that he is) will top that by?? After all - Sanchez's market value must be higher.

Just had to clean my laptop there
I wonder how all this piss arsing around with contracts affects other players and equally the 'commercial' deals the club has
Ozil signed at 24 years old,Sanchez 25 peak years for players on 5 year and 4 year deals respectively.
A manager that talks financial's yet always seems to get a great deal for himself
Socialist wage bill that has done nothing but having to carry squad players like Walcott on 100k a week plus mental
He is very good in buying loyalty, top players have seen through this constantly .Shame still some of the fan base still back this charlatan,
Sign me up for 2nd place for the next 20 years and I will take it.offer me 100 m in the transfer market and I would give it back.
Old quotes by you know who
The next manager coming in be it next year or another five years time is in for a hell of a rebuilding job
Keep asking the question to every Arsenal fan I know....who has actually improved these last years under him
Excellent post, and i think the "buying Loyalty" part is the most important part. Our squad is full of Wengerites, being made millionaires, with little or no pressure to succeed. It's hardly surprising that every top player we have had in the last decade, have seen the light and fuck off. While some of our moronic fan-base are busy booing those who have left, those players are winning titles elsewhere. Don't worry, Mertesacker will be a long with the obligatory apology after our next fuck up

Aaah BGV whos loyalty had been bought post retirement with the job as the academy manager, not sure what his credentials are but seeing as his 'playing' career is only just winding down (i know, i know) but i can't see exactly how he has found the time to become an expert in managing a first class football clubs, supposedly, academy but yet again nowhere are the questions asked that should be asked.
The amount of nepotism in Arsenal PLC is unbelievable
