BBC Football:

13:00 GMT update
Arsenal have increased their offer for Borussia Dortmund and Gabon forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 28, from £48.3m to £50.9m. (Bild - in German)

Typical tight wad wengercuntslop

German football expert Raphael Honigstein believes Arsenal's pursuit of Aubameyang rests on the German club being able to take the Gunners' 31-year-old striker Olivier Giroud on loan for the rest of the season. (BBC Radio 5 live)

Arsenal are also keen to sign West Brom central defender Jonny Evans. The 30-year-old Northern Ireland international is refusing to sign a new deal at The Hawthorns. (Mirror)

That should please DB10 ! :D

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to sign Corinthians midfielder Maycon. The 20-year-old Brazilian is available for about £9m. (Sun)

Unless Sven has recommended him Wenger should be told to work with what he has, I don't trust his judgement these days, especially not with Brazilian's - we don't want another Andre Santos or Denilson on our hands ffs.

No, because Patrick Kluivert and Rob Jones are still in there having their ones. Next in line is Paul Ince then Ronald de Boer.

Stan is on the phone to Ivan right now saying the progress to the "cup final" will mask losing Sanchez and keep the proles quiet no need to spend over £50M of "his money" on another player.

To be fair, we don't exactly have solid right now either.

Is Johnny Evans the defender we should be looking at? Of course not. However, I would say he is an upgrade (albeit not a vast one) on Mert, Holding and Chambers.
I'm really not sure he is.

Are our defensive issues really so much to do with players or tactics/coaching?, although I think Xhaka doesn't help because no one can tell me what exactly he is and he lacks the ability to cover in front of a back four but he is shoe-horned into the starting 11 everytime because Wenger wasted £35M on him.

We have been told for many years that we will only go after "top top" "super super" players and spend wisely, Johnny Evans is pure panic buy.
Can't think of a top quality CB that is available in January that can play for us in Europe. Evans is more like an Andy Lineghan signing. We do after all need a quality DM. Although Elneny didn't do too bad in that role against the chavs.

Nothing changes

The way this is dragging on i can see Dortmund getting fed up with us haggling over relatively small amounts of money (reported they want over 50m so we offer 48m) and refuse to sell to us.

I hope not, although there's always Johnny Evans!

I wonder if our new scouting team will start to find better talent sround the globe. I can't believe it took so long to get rid of the shite we had for years when we needed our scouts to be the best. Time will tell.
