As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
The half year financial results for the club have been released. Highlights:
Turnover from football decreased to £167.7m (last year £191.1m) for the obvious reason that we are not in the champs league.
Sale of one of the last two development sites, Holloway Rd brought in £14m
Profit on player sales is £58.4m (last year £6.3m)
Profit before tax is £25.1m (last year 12.6m)
Increase of £13.2m on wages.
41% of football revenue was from broadcasting (45% last year)
Apparently we will be adding a total of 780 extra seats to club level over the next 2 summers by adding a new front row.
Quite who will buy them is anyones guess!

This illustrates perfectly why Wenger is still in a job, he is and always has been Stan Kroenke's chief accountant first and foremost and a very distant second to that, manager of Arsenal.
You can't use him as a shield forever Stan.. tick tock you f*cking cock.

Aaaah! Yes, the 'Money' - fuckall that nonsense about trophies and titles let's talk about wenger's real interest. I bet wiggy rubbed one off into the american flag when he read these results.
There was a reduction of 200 or so a few seasons back, I think it was due to disabled access issues?
Latest capacity seems to be 59,867.
Correct it will around 60,600 - still short of Spuds who are aiming for 61,000-62,000. If anything we need to do a Juventus and reduce capacity given how sh*t we now are and the amount of 'fans' who can't be bothered to turn up but still hold onto a season ticket.

Problem with the new ground is there is not enough affordable seats compared to the very expensive seats. Someone mentioned during the move that there actually was more affordable / cheaper priced seats available at Highbury that in the new stadium.

Shame we've turned Highbury into flats...
By flat track bullies...seems appropriate somehow.
We should NEVER have left Highbury. The 'suits' knew what they were doing and wenger was part of that "Lie". CUNTTS all of them.

I think the picture will become clearer in the full end of year statement due to busy transfer activities in Jan which wasn't included. Essentially player sales, weaker Pound allowing us to get more money for transactions in Euros and income from property sales have helped offset decrease in revenue due to lack of CL.
This is the board taking avoidance action rather than Wenger playing his financial hand here although no doubt he would've agreed to the player sales to offset the reduced income. I've said before, financially we've hit the cliff and unless we get CL next season things could prove tricky. It's not doom and gloom yet but like our football it's going to be a slow progressive barely noticeable decline.

Just a few thoughts about this, firstly being out of the CL isn't as big a financial hit as some would think. Making it to the last 16 in the current season, revenue amounts to £20m. By contrast finishing 5th in the PL last season netted well over £100m for Arsenal. Given that new TV rights have just been agreed with Sky and BT, with a few more packages on offer to the likes of Amazon etc, the real money in football these days is maintaining an existence in the PL.
I believe we now earn more money from TV rights/Prize money than we do from the paying customer at the Emirates (including corporate).

Add an extra £30m on top of that. We earned around £50m in CL revenue last season. This represents about half of our working capital - About half of our cash reserves (£180m) once you deduct amortisation costs on transfers ( £43m) and the debt service reserve on the stadium (£36m).
Yes TV money has outstripped match day income and reduced the reliance on CL money but it's still not even enough to cover our wage bill. A club with our financial model is certainly in no position to treat CL revenue as some lose change. The club has moved swiftly to offset the loss of revenue by selling a lot of players in January and if the inevitable happens and we fail to make CL next season don't be surprised to transfer activities curtailed until he shift some more players.
