Springsteen at the Grove

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Val Who? You're 'avin a larf...

Brucie was fantastic - he was out there for longer than RVP and Tomas added together managed all season - or so it seemed. BS even managed the knee slide without injuring himself! Wish I'd had tickets for tonight too. Glory Days would surely a better intro than 'The Bl**dy Wonder of You' next season!

And the 'E' place is a fantastic venue for concerts - sound and facilities beat Wembley, Olympia and Twickenham  . Musn't screw up the pitch, though :barscarf:

The pitch was dug up before the false boardings were put down.

Another clip. This one is a quick sweep round the ground during a song.....so better for gooners who aren't big Springsteen fans:

Springsteen at the Grove

Post by L37Gooner »

It was Bruce at his best. I was in the upper tier block 134 for the Friday night gig. Sound was a bit muffled up there. Loads of people were dancing "in the dark" and unlike the old North Bank upper the stand stood firm.

When the whole stadium sang "Thunder Road" from start to finish it was just awesome and really showed the potential the stadium acoustics have with 60,000 voices at full belt. Don't think we've managed it as well during matches yet!

Gotta say the "ooh ohhing" at the end of "The Rising" wouldn't sound too out of place at a match. How about "The Rising" as our anthem?

With the Bergkamp testamonial being the best way to open the stadium football wise, Bruce was the perfect first gig.

Had a great view of the whole stadium from up there and we saw this bloke on the pitch by the stage who looked a bit like Bill Bailey playing his air guitar and dancing around like a shaman, but was wearing what looked like a Spuds shirt did anyone else see him?

Bruce well and truly tested the foundations but the Grove did us proud.

Springsteen -

Was there Friday night, what an amazing night. My 8th Springsteen gig, and it was up there with the best. It felt strange not watching football at the stadium. One plus point being a Red Member I normally get upper tier seats for football, but for the gig we had seats in Block 1, by the players entrance, just a few rows back from the Arsenal bench. Interesting to see the view of the pitch from there. It was a concert so it felt right to wear an old Springsteen tour t shirt, of course I counted a number of Spurs fans who thought it would be smart to wear their home shirt !
