Hleb for Yaya

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Hleb for Yaya

Post by Swale_Gooner1985 »

Im slightly nervous to put this on here incase it been put on before, but didnt want to scroll through everything!

please dont tell me off if it has

Did anyone see the article that said Barcelona are keen to offer us Yaya Toure and some cash for Hleb? whats are everyones thoughts on this?

Myself i would be quite happy with that, seeing as a few weeks ago it seemed we would get hardly anything for Hleb, getting Toure and some money would in my opinion be very good business, like to see Kolo and Yaya in the same team, they would really fight for each other!

I don't think there's much of a chance of it happening but it would be the best deal AW's made since....Sol, probably 8)

The one player I am genuinely excited about us being properly linked with!

Its funny cos I am still not sure that he is mobile enough and fast enough to work in the premiership but am so desperate to get rid of hleb that I am praying that the deal goes through 8) I find it highly unlikely though that we would get yaya & money for hleb and more likely that we would have to give them some cash but that could be just down to my very low opinion of hleb

I would be happy even if it were a straight swap deal cos it would mean (in theory anyway) that the much lauded transfer budget would be still untouched and allow us to persue other vital targets 8)

David Villa is still the only player linked that would excite me (in a football way) but that of course means that there is zero chance of him coming  Again if we could get him for the same or less money than we could sell ade for then I would class that as an upgrade and be very happy with it :D :D :D

Agreed about Villa, I'd probably lose control of bodily functions if we landed him, but I can't see it myself  Would love Yaya to come the other way for Hleb.

So who would excite you in a non football way?

You're right though...no chance of Villa coming.

Rachel Stevens (not just cos she's a Gooner of course), neve campbell(am looking at her on a dvd now 8) ) and spit in me ears(brittany spears) would def float my boat. I think there is more of a chance of me landing one of those beauties than there is of wenger signing david villa

I know what you mean about Yaya - looks a decent but not brilliant prospect, from what I saw of him last season, a bit too error-prone for my liking. But I'd still be pleased to get him as part of a swap for Hleb, since Yaya offers a good chance for replacing Flamini.

For whatever reason, Hleb is rated higher by coaches of some of Europe's leading sides than he is by Arsenal fans. They're obviously seeing something we don't. Certainly not Hleb's prowess in front of goal. But the enthusiasm for him should at least mean we can get a good price for him, meaning getting Yaya plus some cash would seem reasonable. I've seen one Arsenal website suggest we could get both Yaya and Gio dos Santos in exchange for Hleb. Looks very unlikely to me, and I'm not convinced by dos Santos anyway.

And I think there's zero chance of Villa joining us - would love to be wrong but just can't see it happening.

I was lead to believe that it was always the case that Yaya was a better prospect than Kolo and we never took him only due to the legalities etc?

I ama Hleb fan but if he is determined to leave then would be very happy to swap Hleb for Yaya.

Yaya Toure has shown in the past season that he is strong, can tackle, and bombs it forward from central midfield.

What we do need to look at though is still

Tall Centre Back

Goalscoring Wide Player (unless Wenger sees this role for the not confirmed Nasri)

Its bad enough with Toure swanning off to the African Nations cup, and losing Yaya too would be too much. Not worth the hassle IMO

I can see the wisdom in that line of thought 8)
