I can't believe that Arteta seems the number one choice. Think they want a yes man to run the team while Gazidis and his new crew run the club.
I will be gutted if Arteta gets it we have a lot of shit to sort out and need experience.

Arteta would be a crazy, crazy appointment. I think that most fans will be very underwhelmed by this appointment and as a result, he won't get the time either. This would be the Moyes appointment that Man Utd did. Moyes won nothing nor challenged for titles when they gave him the appointment. Arteta hasn't done anything other than being part of a team which won the Premier League with good tactics and a bottomless pit of money to play with.

Fans won't be rushing to snap up the season tickets and if it goes badly, the empty seats will reappear in droves.

Surely, the board must know this? It seems that the Kroenkes are over-confident because of appointing the LA Rams young head coach that leads them to think that they can do the same in a completely different context with different rules.

Pretty much. I thought the fans would give him enough time and support to establish himself but not sure about that at this point. The club needs a quick reversal into a team resembling something of the past and if the club are languishing in 10th or lower by Xmas, then what? Will Gazidis spout his usual shite about values and we need to give him time, or give him the boot?

Arteta seems to be highly respected by many top people in the game but that's not enough. He hasn't proved himself at all.

Allegri would be my choice wouldn't mind Jardim or Emery.

My other strong choice would be Conte who is just waiting for a payoff at Chelsea,where players were bought that he obviously didn't want,He and the other candidates will not suffer and defend half hearted performances and will jog on or drop players based on performance not reputation.

Think all would bring organization to our team even with a similar squad,sorry to upset the media but it would be actually harder to do worse.

The positive for any manager coming in little board interference and will be surprised at the size of the wage bill they will have to work with.I think the transfer budget will be healthy and no doubt with the work done in January to get rid of some squad players we will see similar in the summer.

Any of the above will and should be given time by the fans.

Arteta may turn out to be a fine manager time will tell but a massive gamble if he were given the job and should he get off to a bad start the stadium will again be toxic not only against the new manager but this time more against the board.

The club can't afford to get this wrong but the structure of the coaching and scouting is certainly changing for the better.

Would also add as a footnote if we want someone to steady the ship and an experienced manager who would gain instant respect from the fans and players Carlo Ancellotti would do a good job.

The choices I have made above are the way the club seems to be thinking,younger coaches.

Arteta if he was appointed the mention of SKE looking at their appointed of Sean McVay as a rookie 30 year old NFL head coach as comparison would I guess make me think of the Gazidis interview where I had the feeling that someone left field looked a distinct possibility .

Agreed - this is my major concern about the appointment. The current structure just seems to lend itself to such an appointment. Hope I am wrong and my worries are unfounded as Allegri strolls in to take the job but I just have a nagging doubt. We are relying on Kroenke and Gazidis to get this right and I don't see either of them as the people I want to make this decision.

Allegri has already said he's staying at Juve.

I don't want Arteta but he was an intelligent player, he was also a million times better at Everton than he was for us - he took all their corners and free kicks, but again wonga coached it out of him and played him as a DM.

I'm beginning to think the structure in place may be a difficulty for some managers. I have the impression with Saul and Sven we are looking for more of a head coach than a manager, someone purely to deal with the day to day running of the first team whilst the other two deal with all the other stuff. I'm not sure some of the more senior managers out there would accept that structure
