Hleb for Yaya

gift wrap him & sent him on his way for £12mill
in a way he reminds me alot of Glenn Helder, no final product.
Nasri is a much better prospect than Hleb ever will be, good riddance I say

I thought we payed £13.5m for him? Which if we sold him for 12 would be another big loss in the market. £12m & Yaya would be good business though.

We signed Hleb for 15million Euros, which at that time I believe was around £10m.

Wenger was talking about Yaya on Arsenal.com a month or 2 back, but it was only available to the subcribers, and no news agency or website seemed to report the story

Is it because we couldn't get a work permit? would Yaya not join us because we turned him down while on trial? or does Wenger simply not want him? :?
- or more to the point, considering Yaya was a regular at Barca last season, do we even know anything to suggest they want to sell him?

For the queries i've mentioned above, I doubt that Yaya is even being considered in the Hleb transfer saga.

In any case, a Barca player moving to the Arsenal would almost certainly have to consider a hefty wage reduction, and as Flamini, Cashley, and Nasri seem to prove...not many players are willing to make such a "sacrifice"

Yaya Toure was not signed few years back after his trial as there were reported work permit problems, plus he was not great for us, but has improved a lot over last couple of seasons.

Barcelona have brought in Keita from Sevilla for 14M Euros, who is believed to be Toure's replacement.

£12M for Hleb is very good business indeed at current exchange rates.

I'm getting more and more worried. Nasri deal looked like it's wrapped up, but it's hard to tell what's going on in that front and now the Hleb's deal is taking a lot of time. Do something Arsene.

When either deal goes through, i think the forum will burst like a man who hasn't seen a woman in a year..

Maybe Nasri deal is on hold until after Euro 2008 because Arsene wants it that way, to make sure Nasri is not injured when we buy him?

By what I've heard (rather than seen), Keita is a fantastic player.

I could be wrong, but I believe Marquez and Edmilson are expected to leave Barca this summer. Both these players, although centre backs by trade, have played many games in the holding role in the Barca midfield.

I would assume that a club like Barca would be wanting competition in every position, and with Marquez and Edmilson likely to leave, I just think Barca will probably keep hold of Yaya Toure.

Nah, Arsene wants him now but they are problems over other stuff, and if Arsene really worried about injuries, he wouldn't be offering Van Persie a new contract, would he?

I just figured that nowadays you can pretty much sell a complete donkey and call him ronaldo and still get a hefty sum for him, especially to them spanish sides, they'll do anything to keep the fans happy, especially when they have they're presidential elections and promise to sign every man and his dog! :D
