People are so elated over the removal of Wenger they're yet again failing to see the lack of ambition being shown right now, this is supposed to be the start of a new era and yet at this moment i can't see any difference in the transfer strategy from the last one.
Mustafi and Xhaka were both seen as positive additions by most when they first arrived and look how mediocre they have been, and before the revisionists get started go read their threads and you'll see very little dissension over those purchases and i include myself in that.
I'm seriously struggling to see where the ambition lies in a 34 year old Veteran, a 17 year old prospect and if Sokratis happens a player i've seen linked with no-one else![]()
I hope to fuck i'm wrong but seriously this feel so much like more of the same at the moment....![]()
We need back-up/competition for bellerin of that there is no doubt - would you prefer a back up with much less experience, or a guy that knows what it takes to win and how importing defending is in that plan ? So what if we only get 2 years out of him - this summer we have bigger needs on the team and hopefully we will address them, then next summer we will hopefully be in a position to upgrade both full back positions. Personally I dont see the point in spending money from a limited budget on bringing in squad players, when our first 11 is nowhere near the required level - fix the team first, and then strength the squad.
