The Guardian say #Arsenal have agreed a £26.4m (€30m) deal to sign the Lucas Torreira & were discussing personal terms with the midfielder's representatives in Milan today. https://t.co/FzUj3ARIJ3
Daily Fail are reporting it too. Paying in instalments over some years. WTF
The majority of transfers are in instalments, it's a sensible move if our funds are limited to buy in other areas as well.
It's the "American Way" - All the deals done in the MLS and NFL are based on instalments
Now we know what part of the transfers team Josh Kroenke is playing.
Both Flamini and Diarra did well in the premier league.
Also, what about Roy Keane, Dennis Wise, Mascherano, De Jong, Makelele, etc?
Being a good DM has a lot more to do with positioning, intelligence, tackling skills, discipline, reading of the game than height.
Give me little Kanté over big Fellaini any day of the week.
If flamoney and diarra did so well, then why is it universally accepted that we havent had a quality player in the position since PV4 ? Flamoney was second rate at best.
You point to wise but forget that he too played alongside some real physical team-mates who done the rough stuff for him. Even ignoring that, wise was only a sneaky dirty c.unt and wasnt a good player. With the exception of de jong, there isnt one player on the list of players you gave, that was big and physical enough to carry the midfield on his own - the others all had players alongside them that were able for the tougher side of the game, but our midfield is full of weakly fcukers who will be fcuk all use to our DM when the going gets tough.
Who's to say he won't get another midfielder in , it's a good start and maybe he see Maitland Niles alongside him , he is quick and strong .

surely that sensible? i see no downside.
not to mention most transfer are done like that these days.

By all accounts he is building around ramsey - why would he buy two centre midfielders then ?
All the paper reports today have us being very close to buying leno as back-up to cech …………. what the fcuking fcuk is that all about ?? Buying a 26 year old keeper to back-up an ancient geriatric turd is scandalous If this german aint good enough to be number 1 keeper straight away, then he can fcuking stay where he is too

Maybe we should look to rugby league, there's some big fuckers in there

Going mental on the transfer front this summer, I just hope we are sat here in 1 months time with 3 or 4 new additions from those that have been suggested so far.

So is it either you're as good as Vieira was or you've failed? You can be deemed to have done well without necessarily having performed at Vieira's (incredibly high) levels.
If that was the case then we've never had a good enough center mid, as Vieira is arguably the best in the club's history.
Flamini and Diarra had no issues adapting and performing to a very good standard in the PL, is my point. Flamini was brilliant for us in that 2007-08 season and was overall a solid player for the club, whilst Diarra was mint for Portsmouth and I was personally gutted when he left us because he had obvious ability.
I'll give you another name, Fernandinho, the best DM in the league, is only 5'9" and has no 'big physical brutes' next to him to help him.
just read that apparently Leno is the second worst keeper since 14/15 season regards mistakes leading directly to goals,im guessing only beaten by Cech! well at least if we sign Leno its still and improvement hes one place better

ive been a firm believer that a worldy of a DM Needs to be 6ft plus at least but a fair few have popped up as discussed above that have performed just as good as Viera, yaya toure etc etc that have been relatively short,im guessing if you have a well assembled team that are all pulling in the same direction regards defensive responsibilities then any potential short comings by a slightly smaller DM will be compensated by the certainly the back line and possibly the rest of the midfield too,in the past weve had too many players bombing forward with no care at all of whats been going on at the other end, this will thank god end as of august,as long as a DM is aware of his responsibilities and gets stuck in up to his nuts in guts and backed up by his team mates then its not a problem at all I guess but yes ideally you would have a 6ft 5 viera clone swinging a 12 inch penis around the middle of the park

Is this Leno any good because I don't know anything about him?
I do agree with you though that if he isn't good enough to be No1 straight away, then why are we bothering with him?
Torreira being reported every where now. Apparently his agent is on his way to Uruguay's camp in Russia to meet with club officials and have Torreira sign his contract.
This is as good as done unless we Fekir it up.
Also, just found out Torreira is born in Fray Bentos. I like him even more now.
