England v Croatia.

Croatia gotta be running on fumes after back to back PKs. Croatia has the best player in Modric, but England have the better overall team. England 2-1.

I hope they are knackered because in Modric, Rakitic and Kovacic they've got three midfielders better than any we've got and they've got other decent players as well.

I am hoping for a Belgium v England final because that would be the premier league final. Most of Belgium squad are either current or past PL players and of course England are the only nation at this world cup with 100% of their players drawn from their domestic league.

That would be a strong message about the quality of the league our team plays in. Plus whoever wins such a final we will be watching a lot of world cup winners next season.

Unfortunate that there aren't more Arsenal players in the mix but that's where Wenger left us.

What a day yesterday was, it slightly grates that the England team is full of filthy spuds but as someone else said that's Wenger's fault at all levels. We had a number of England mainstays when he joined us.

Regardless, I was worried about yesterday, but Sweden was poor and after a slow start, we dominated. Where the fuck has Harry Maguire come from, surely he won't be at Leicester much longer.

Loving the buzz in London right now, and would much rather play Croatia than Russia, even though Croatia is a technically better team, Russia nearly overcame them yesterday with home advantage.

Anything is possible now. I haven't been to a pub yet for a game, but if we make it to the final there must be some great options in and around Arsenal.

Absolutely, Southgate is going to have to make a decent call about how to set up his midfield against the Croats or England aren't going to have much possession. He also needs to have a serious think about whether to persist with Sterling or might it be time to introduce somebody else who might have a more positive contribution to make.

Yesterday was exactly what England wanted - played like a shitty qualifier rather than a showpiece all-or-nothing match. I thought England generally managed the game well - the one black mark being somehow managing to allow a piss-poor Sweden to have 3 good chances.

Croatia are a better team and it's probably 50/50 for me. Their three midfielders are really talented but they are a bit short on quality elsewhere - swear I saw fucking Corluka playing yesterday??

If I was an England team I'd rather play France than Belgium. Belgium have probably been the most consistent side and as well as some excellent talent they generally look balanced. France are a good side but more than capable of completely not turning up for big games.

Guessing you are English in which case you might want to adjust how you use the language. Only the uneducated colonials refer to sporting teams in the singular and you wouldn't want to be mistaken for one of them. So "Sweden were..." and "Croatia are...".

On the sports channel I watch the coverage is intaspersed with a series covering the history of the world cup. Its called "Football's Greatest Stage". Worth watching but the Aussie narrator insists on referring to teams in the singular and it grates.
