You know what isn't it wonderful to have this preseason of excitement and actual anticipation without the usual feelings of deja vu and dread?

yep and seeing evidence of actual coaching :

and I'm actually reading Pravda.com for the first time in like six years too !

That top photo looks to me like Dick is saying "and you, Bellerin, get that fucking manbun cut - you are a footballer not an extra from Zoolander ffs!"

yes - I noticed the slack jawed open mouthed expression on all three players too - " what do you mean push him wide, push him wide ? "

I bet Bellerin was straight on to bell his agent after training " they keep telling me where to run and stop, sacre bleu we ave not discussed art once ! "

nice to see that Dick hasn't spoken to the ex-manager or considered his views of the squad at all
on if he's spoken to the ex-manager about the players here…
Not yet.

on if he plans to…
Normally, when we meet every year in Nyon with the coaches, we have a conversation together. I am sure we will meet together in the next week or month or in the near future.

on if it would be helpful to get advice from the ex-manager…
Each coach needs to know the players. Not all the coaches have the same relationship with a player and I have my personality. I want to know with my direct opinion, with my direct conversations with the player. I have information on the players for the club, from the people around me. The information with the ex-manager is also important for me but the best is my direct relationship and conversations with the players.
very diplomatic. but basic its an eff you :barscarf:

Had a watch of his interview and he says all the right things which is encouraging. His English is coming on really well too so fair play to him for that. He didn't completely rule out another signing if a major opportunity arose.

He put the Ramsey contract negotiations firmly at the feet of the player himself and the club having told Ivan, Sven and Raul that he wants to keep Ramsey - well played boss, nice little side step there :D

John Cross ?

and I bet that wasn't the answer they wanted either - it'll be very hard to credit any success this season and next to the ex-manager if the ex-manager has had zero contact with the new guy.

the AKB's will want to say " see ! - we told you so" whether we succeed or fail.

I see nothing, nothing at all so far that leads me to suggest we will finish sixth this year. maybe its just pre-season giddiness but I might put a bet on us finishing third.

Hector got such a smug look on his face, you almost want to slap him.

He will learn the hard way, Hector that is.

I like everything dick has done since taking the job, everything but one thing .......... the keeper position - I know that in public he has to say things about no decision on made, open competition etc, but all the talk coming out of the club is that cech will start the season as number 1 keeper until leno beds in. Aside from the fact that it would be ridiculous paying that amount of money for a back up keeper (albeit only in short term), the thought of cech being 1st choice for even one game totally deflates any optimism and hope I have for next season

even PEA who I thought was one of the fitter ones :
A number of Arsenal players were visibly tired following some intense pre-season training, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shared how tough he is finding the grueling sessions on Twitter.

The Arsenal striker posted a photo of himself being propped up by Eddie Nketiah with the caption: 'Damn bro help me !!! I’m dead. Come on Auba still 10 more runs to go.'

this ain't no surprise tho :
