'Honestly wouldn't surprise me if we find out one day that Özil is/was struggling with some sort of mental illness. This is happening way too often and usually after disappointing big games. I've had close family members struggle with this, so I'm not going to make light of this, but there's definitely a pattern here. If not, there's at least some sort of link between his psychological state and his immune system that seems to be prone to illness.'

Dick says Ozil has catarrh,
Has to be a new one for a footballer, for anyone for that matter.

7 times in the past 20 months he’s missed games due to “illness”. If he were to fuck off before the window closes would anyone even notice? Just not the type of guy you want around the place when attempting to drag the club out of the malaise left behind by SFB.
Re: OZIL No shows, Injury, illness ??
let's see, based on your logic ("need artists around him,not artisans") we'll need:Kroos,Bale,Busquets and Coutinho for our No.10 to excel.
Pure idiocy.

Another non-descript “illness” stopping him from playing.
Something just isn’t right there.

I have no urge to abuse the man. He did not award himself the obscene contract. But the emperor is not wearing a suit of the finest linen that only the most discerning among us can see. He is totally naked.
For all that Sanchez was high maintenance, I would have much preferred him to stay than Ozil. He may not have set the world alight at United, but he contributes more, especially when it matters (eg all three assists when they won 3-2 at City in April). He would have made the bench, along with Fabregas, in my "best Arsenal team of the Wenger era". Ozil wouldn't.

I'd agree with this. Ozil just isn't as good as Sanchez was. However, at that time, Sanchez would have had a lot of suitors out there wanting his services while Ozil may have had a couple of Chinese clubs (which is where I think that he will end up).Bob Bayliss wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 7:29 pmI have no urge to abuse the man. If he can adapt and add defending into his repertoire, which I have serious doubts about, then he will be worth his salt. Sadly, I just can't see that happening at all.

Re: OZIL No shows, Injury, illness ??
Ridiculous to compare Sanchez and Ozil tbh. Two totally different players. Sanchez was the better player in that he made bigger impacts in games and could score goals often from nothing but he wasn't as good a technical player as Ozil. Also similar to Ozil we didn't get the best from Sanchez and he had as many bad games as he did good ones. Funny how everyone forgets those games huh?begeegs wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 9:10 pmI'd agree with this. Ozil just isn't as good as Sanchez was. If you are waiting for a 29 year old creative number 10 to start learning to defend you are wasting your time. He creates chances and assists when he's on form. That what he does. He also doesn't defend he doesn't run around like Robbie Savage he doesn't man mark at corners he doesn't play in nets....

As for the team of the Wenger era I'm not even sure if Sanchez and Ozil would make the bench tbh. We had some great players in that first 10 years.... but that was all luck right.... that was all George Graham right.... or David Dein right.... nothing to do with Wenger right.... agenda right.....
