He was doing that thing again where he points and shouts instructions. He'll get into trouble soon if he's not careful.

Yeah what is that? Surely it's cheating? I mean the greatest football manager (and builderLeyton Gooner wrote: ↑Mon Oct 22, 2018 8:55 pmHe was doing that thing again where he points and shouts instructions. He'll get into trouble soon if he's not careful.

At least Uncle Bouldy is trying to maintain his honest dignity. And doing it quite well it has to be said.

the great thing is that we appear to be getting better and better each match under Emery.
he has also instilled confidence and unity into the team - I'm amazed that it is all happening so quickly.

The players seem to be enjoying themselves on the pitch and off it appear pretty tight too, the fans have got the belief in the team back, can actually look forward to going to games with anticipation not dread now.Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Tue Oct 23, 2018 9:39 amthe great thing is that we appear to be getting better and better each match under Emery.

Had we got a deserved point at Chelsea the league table would look very rosy indeed

So much better after so few games is quite incredible still defensively needs a fair bit more work but it’s all coming together very nicely, thank you.
( would be interested in anyone’s opinion on how Chilwell played as we were linked heavily with him before and from the glimpses I’ve seen he looks very exciting )

Good player and he has a bit of an edge to him which I like in a defender, but he signed a new contract last week so you can strike him off your list.
Celtic's Tierney would still be my first choice left back signing

Re: Unai Emery
did anyone see that graphic last night on the 3rd goal - Leno to passed into an GOAL in 19 seconds - nine players involved in 10 passes.

that's the second game with a goal starting from Leno - how does Dick drop Leno after last night ?
its a toughie.
there's no doubt that he has fixed us going forward, we are scoring from corners, free kicks and longshots, but also from simple pass and moves like the two goals last night.
and his post match comments were no different to game one on this streak - very humble, must work harder, must keep concentration, unhappy we only dominated for 60 minutes...
he is still the anti-laurel rester. in years past, this team - Walcott, ramsay etc would be talking about titles, and the manager would be smirking and saying ' oh i don't know about that, but we have the belief..."

Re: Unai Emery
The thing that is really getting on my tits is the snide comments about having played no good team in this 10 game winning run - we all know that we haven't played any of the top 5 or 6 in those games, but we play the same teams as everyone else so come back to us when another team wins 10 in a row
If we had beaten the chavs (which we absolutely should have), I'm sure there would be some other dismissive narrative to diminish the progress we have made
Listen, most Gooners are level headed enough to know that this season is gonna be full of ups and downs so we will definitely hit a wobble shortly (please not against the victims), and we know that we are nowhere near a league title challenging team, but this team and this club have made massive strides from where we have been the past few seasons. The ego/arrogance seems to have gone and been replaced by a humble work ethic, and the mental weakness seems to have been replaced with a toughness and unity that has been sadly missing for a number of seasons now. There can be no doubt that the vast majority of the changes are down to emery and his coaching staff, and while it is great how the fanbase is all euphoric at the moment, we still need to be aware that it is still early days for dick, and we have to be patient and support him when that wobble comes

Re: Unai Emery
all well said Augie.
yes, these may have all been 'easy' games, but you have to win those too to be top four. we are fourth on merit, nothing else.
Another little gem in the press this morning - from Iwobi :
a phrase never ever heard under the ex-manager. and something that wasted Gnabry, Ox and to some extent Wally's talents.
so no Alex, i disagree, the difference is that last year you were being managed, this year you are being coached.

Another little gem in the press this morning - from Iwobi :
"be positive, be direct".
basically also in training he is always letting me try new things, be positive, be direct and prove it in the game. It is working for me so I just have to keep it going.
“I'd just say I am more confident. I feel that even if I make a mistake I am able to go again.
“I think that is the difference between me last year and this year.”

Spot on, also i would add to this, even if we lose vs the Victims, that does not mean anything as any top side can lose to them on the day, I think by the time the winter transfer window opens we will have a good idea where we are after playing scousers, scum and manure, but even if the metaphorical wheels come off, under Wenger last few seasons we never had any wheels on the wagon to fall off anyway!!!augie wrote: ↑Tue Oct 23, 2018 3:05 pmThe thing that is really getting on my tits is the snide comments about having played no good team in this 10 game winning run - we all know that we haven't played any of the top 5 or 6 in those games, but we play the same teams as everyone else so come back to us when another team wins 10 in a rowIf we had beaten the chavs (which we absolutely should have), I'm sure there would be some other dismissive narrative to diminish the progress we have made

He has moved us forward miles already you don't win 11 games in a row on luck, and 8 on run in our division we have blown teams away in 20 - 30 minute spells and that is dangerous, what liverpool were doing last year early in games, we do late but with a more technical aproach. Don't forgot we nearly did the Chav$ from 2-0 down with one of these late surges of goals / chances created.
Against us it really feels like you better take all your chances or we will out score you by 90 minutes. Also I have no idea if Emery will take a differing approach to teams he don't think he can outscore so easy.
runs of 7, 8 and 9 wins on the bounce are not to be sniffed at.

Dick has made us stiff opponents. we won't get beat too often.

Re: Unai Emery
exactly mate, and Dick's team can from score from anywhere - free kick, corner, edge of the box, a Leno rollout can be in the net in 16 seconds.AkneyGooner wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 12:50 amAgainst us it really feels like you better take all your chances or we will out score you by 90 minutes.
and to quote The Merse, Dick has given the team "unbelievable belief" that they can score anytime from anywhere, when we go down 1-0 heads go up, not down.
which is something I've not seen from us since 2004.
which means teams can't just sit back and let us just try to pass through them like they have done for the last ten years or more.
that tippy tappy tikkatakka bollocks is truly dead now. thank eff for that !
other teams should fear us - we might not be the technically best, but we can score goals for fun.
I would not be surprised if by August, we have beaten Chelsea or City, and Liverpool.

Re: Unai Emery
Compare and contrast with the previous manager who had nothing but disrespect for the fans
"We were with them and they were with us, supporters who had come from Arsenal, from London or from here. For us, it’s very important that supporters are with us and enjoy it."
