Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Not a shadow of the player he was for us. never was afterwards. Not even when he returned to Chelsea and had a good season when they won the league.
Still a tidy footballer but he is only going to get slower. I think we can do better.

“Of course, Arsenal will always be in my heart and I will never forget them so why not return. You never know. I feel fine still. In seven months my contract ends with Chelsea. It will be 16 seasons playing at the highest level, over 750 games, a lot of training, travelling.
I feel young and strong but maybe I can’t do 60 games a season. With my style I think I can keep playing for longer and obviously I want to keep playing for many years.”
I'd take him back for a two or three year deal. Not only would he provide us with a quality option in midfield but with his experience he'd be great for the development of the likes of Torreira, Doozy and ESR.
There was no-one angrier than me when the senile french c.unt refused to sign him back when he left barca, but there is no way in the world I would support signing him now - this is a new team with a new dynamic, and signing him would only get in the way of talents like maitland-niles and esr

100% agree with this. We're moving forward as a club with Emery and have the talent coming through. If necessary the addition of another diamond or two courtesy of Mislintat to replace the likes of Elneny is a far better option than having Fabregas back. He's part of the club's history but irrelevant now so why not keep it that way.augie wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 10:55 pmSydneyGooner wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 1:08 pmDaily Mail“You never know” – Chelsea star refuses to rule out return to Arsenal

Whatever money is available in January he should spend on our defence

Fabregas? 5 years past his best. Wtf why not get Henry back for a third spell or see if Freddie fancies a run ffs?
Fuck that. We are superb on our day going forward. Our problem is at the back. Any cash in January has to go on the defence.
Fabregas would be the answer to a question no one asked.

I said at the end of last season that I was really impressed with this guy, but whether he would be good enough to play at our level remains to be seen

Dunno if he is good enough or not, but surely he has to be better than mustafi ??

I like the guy tbf, but I hope that we remain at a major disadvantage when it comes to signing him

Aaron Ramsey will leave Arsenal for free at the end of the season after the club finally told him in person why he will not be offered a new contract, Sky Sports News understands.

they are letting him go for free, for "financial health reasons" - which means they don't think he is worth his CURRENT wages.mcdowell42 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 31, 2018 6:58 pmAaron Ramsey will leave Arsenal for free at the end of the season after the club finally told him in person why he will not be offered a new contract, Sky Sports News understands.

this strikes me as a 'moneyball' approach - they look at goals, assists, passes completed, tackles and compare those ratios to other players, and then look at and compare their current and future wages.
The club is basically saying he is massively overpaid and they can get more production for less money, and they don't see that even if he ups his production to match what else is out there, that his wages are good value.....
they could also be saying that they are going to bring someone in on much higher wages and this is where they have chosen to cut salary spending to fund that - possibly Thauvin, Depay or even Neymar ?

Some of the press are saying Smith-Rowe is the reason we are happy enough to let the Welsh Messi-Lite go. Personally I thought it was because he's mostly shit.

yeah its a long shot i admit, but they said we'd never get Bergkamp too. plus Dick is very well respected in Spain.
I would not be surprised to see a big name in Spain come to us in the next couple of seasons, not at all mate.

Not disagreeing with you at all on that part, but can you ever see us paying the type of money it would require to buy a neymar ?? Not a fcuking chance, so whatever big name signing we make, had better come with a far more reasonable price tag

Yeah not sure we need a decent youngster to tell us that we can't justify paying Ramsey north of £200k.DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 5:28 pmSome of the press are saying Smith-Rowe is the reason we are happy enough to let the Welsh Messi-Lite go. Forget about spreading the saving across a few years and comparing it to hefty transfer fees. We can't pay this bloke that. There will be a fucking revolt.
