Injuries
Hopefully it’s just a case of some players initially struggling with Emery’s more high-intensity game rather than a continuation of our Keystone Cops medical staff, but these constant injuries are making life very difficult for us.
Emery has inherited a squad full of players who have never defended properly, and then every game we have another 1-2 defenders limping off. We can’t field the same back 4 or 5 two games in a row and it’s not helping us progress.
Meanwhile Spurs have punched above their weight for a few years on end now because the likes of Lloris, Alderweireld, Alli, Kane, Eriksen, Dier, Son etc all start 30-35 PL games every season. Liverpool are 4 points clear of a far superior city team because Salah, mane, firmino and Van Dijk have basically started every PL game between them. On top of that they play their strongest side every PL game. Both sides are razor thin on quality compared to their closest rivals but are able to compete through being able to consistently turn out the same side. They manage it without resting them often.
Time we dedicated a bit more time and commitment towards keeping our players fit?

Re: Injuries
You cant legislate for injuries like wellshit got. Monreal and cech are old men with a lot of mileage on the clocks so their bodies are always gonne be more susceptable to injuries (thank god). Smith-Rowe is a young lad whose body is still developing. Maitland-Niles and holding were contact injuries that you cant avoid.
I would think that muscular injuries are down on previous seasons, but that's just off the top of my head so I might be wrong

Nasty injuries like Welbeck, Maitland-Niles and Holding are just bad luck. You are always going to get injuries generally too - it's part and parcel of the game and even our great sides in the first half of Wenger's reign wouldn't have won trophies if they didn't have players who could step in and deputise for chunks of the season.
But just looking at our defence and even discounting Holding and Koscielny due to their long-term injuries, nobody has stayed fit this year. Sokratis and Mustafi have both had niggly injuries meaning that they've probably missed 8-10 PL games between them before Christmas. Monreal has been constantly injured and seems to be yet again, Bellerin has had a few injuries already and now injured again for a few more weeks, Kolasinac has also had a fair few knocks this season and even Lichtensteiner has had a few injuries when we've needed him to deputise. Every defender.
Our last five PL games we have had to use at least one substitution on a defender going off injured. We can't finish a game with the same defence that started it, never mind have a decent run of games with the same back 4 or 5. It's an appalling record and makes the very difficult job of trying to build a defence at this club into a near impossible one.
By contrast van Dijk has managed to start all 24 PL and CL games for Liverpool this season without any bother whatsoever. Just looks to me like there is still an issue with fitness and conditioning when you look at other clubs.

Re: Injuries
According to the Mirror, Rob Holding is expected to feature in #Arsenal's EFL Trophy clash against Northampton Town on Tuesday. If he comes through unscathed, he could be available for the game against Watford after the international break. https://t.co/KJ7u3E0ioG

Gotta be honest it got me excited for a split second too!

Ah bollocks
Incidentally, Ramsey has withdrawn from the next couple of welsh games and didn’t even make the squad for Juve’s first game. Still recovering from his hamstring injury at Arsenal supposedly!!
No surprise there!!
