Spot on Rodders. When you read that list and then consider all the wanky little £12M buys who got sold on for £2M a couple of seasons later because they were utter shite it all adds up to a criminal waste of money. All the bluster in the game and in the media about us being a business and talk of our business model is pure fantasy. Utter bollox. I'm sure a lot of us work in businesses where we see turnover far far in excess of what the Arsenal do.....anyone got a member of staff who gets to behave the way that TOF did for years and who still has a job. No - funny that! He'd have been sacked at our place years ago. We are a business when it suits them to say we are but in reality we have witnessed an over indulgent parent watch his brat off spring throwing his toys out the pram for the last 8 years.....anyone got a business model to match that....you know the one, where you keep selling all your assets for fuck all and wait to see what happens. Buckle in for the ride to nowhere gents.rodders999 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 04, 2019 9:42 pmI’m all for charity but what Bournemouth are doing with the victims is now taking the absolute piss.
I’ve often said on here that the day football took the first bite out of its own arsehole was the day Bournemouth paid 17 million quid for Jordan Ibe.
17 MILLION QUID FOR JORDAN FUCKING IBE.
I will never recover from that one, never.
But I see that they’ve now gone and actually done one better by paying 19 million quid for Dominic Solanke.
19 MILLION QUID FOR DOMINIC FUCKING SOLANKE.
That’s the same Dominic Solanke who hasn’t played for Liverpool this season and has started a grand total of 5 league games in his entire career.
Fuck me....it’s now official - the game has gone. And while we may laugh on here and talk of it being absolute banter and make glib remarks about the eating of arseholes it’s a stark reminder of the absolute shit show that was run under Wanker and Ivan when we’ve let -
Serge Gnabry
Wojciech Szczesny
Alexis Sanchez
Jack Wilshere
Aaron Ramsey
Danny Welbeck
all leave the club for a grand total of £15 million and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
That’s fucking grim reading and is even worse when you consider our current paltry transfer “war chest”.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Anyone know if Chambers loan deal can be curtailed should the transfer window not be successful?
I'm not sure UEs priorities or funds will necessary be aimed at defenders and tbh I'm not sure Chambers would be much worse than mustafi or Kos right now

The Guardian say #Arsenal are hopeful of signing Barcelona’s Denis Suárez this month. He would cost around £20m. https://t.co/e9Vx1hpSIr

Have to say that I watched this kid play for spain under 21s in the european championships (I think that it was 2 years ago), and I thought that he was different gravy - others in that team might hav got the attention/praise, but for me he was the fulcrum that knitted that whole spain team together.
Of course it does raise concerns about prioritizing the wrong positions on the team when we need defenders so badly, but we do have trash that we do need to get rid of in that area (the ninny, ramsey, and possibly mikki and ozil).
I would also like to know if barca would insist on negotiating a buy back clause - in latter years it seems to be common practice amongst Europe's big clubs that they have a buy back clause in case they are making a mistake letting a young player leave, but I would never want our club to sign any player with a clause like that
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
they already used the buy back clause when they re-signed him from Vilarreal so I'd imagine they won't do it again but you never know!augie wrote: ↑Sat Jan 05, 2019 12:52 pmmcdowell42 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 05, 2019 12:38 pmThe Guardian say #Arsenal are hopeful of signing Barcelona’s Denis Suárez this month. Not that I believe that the sun is a bastion of truth and integrity or anything, but the £8.5m price does seem a lot more realistic than the £20m fee reported in the guardian

Should be looking to get players in both fullback positions as well. Wan-Bissaka/Aarons and Chilwell/Tierney would be great.Daily Mirror: West Ham's Reece Oxford will reject a permanent move to Gladbach this month, so he can join Arsenal in the summer.

Solanke is the third most expensive English striker in history after Andy Carroll and Wayne Rooney .

Yeah Eddie Howe’s stock is falling rapidly Augie (not that it was massively high to begin with....(think his level is Bournemouth to be honest - no higher).
£34m on Ibe and Solanke
that’s what we paid in total for Torreira and Guendouzi.
As I’ve said already Liverpool are making good money selling shit players, whatever our opinion on Sir Flicks-A-Lot to have him walk out the door for nothing flushing 50 odd million down the shitter in the process is a fucking disgrace.
We have no transfer budget yet we leave big assets stroll out the door for nothing

Liverpool and Chelsea have both sold unwanted players for massive fees in relative terms for years. We could learn a lot from that.

Also it was Howe who gave Jermain Defoe a 5 year deal and that worked out didn't itrodders999 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 12:24 pmYeah Eddie Howe’s stock is falling rapidly Augie (not that it was massively high to begin with....(think his level is Bournemouth to be honest - no higher).
