As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Usual thread starter… I buy the kits for my son. They get plenty of use, so they are worth the £12 I pay for them from sources that the club would not approve of. But they look pretty much the same as the real thing, but are not yer actual Nike product. But paying what I do to watch the team already, I’m giving the club enough. It’s about time football clubs got their heads round the concept of value for money. White sleeves or not.
Will you be buying the new top? If so, what name will you get put on it, if any?
When I first saw the shirt unofficially, I wasn't too keen on it, although i'm usually against most shirts the club bring out until I get used to them and for me it's the same with this one.
mrbigmike: how do you know the new away kit is yellow?? It was a bit gutting when they scrapped the traditional yellow colours and i havent bought an away shirt since...
I'm not against change but I am against change for the sake of it. Who are nike to decide that Arsenal no longer play in Red shirts with white sleeves? (The new shirt is not red with white sleeves it is red and white with red and white sleeves). Could you imagine the uproar on Merseyside if they changed Liverpool from being all red!
If this decision was made by nike then they need to lose the contract. If it was made by the club then they deserve to be told to respect the clubs traditions. Either way, the supporters need to make their feelings known and the best way to do so is to not buy it. They won't care about petitions if the sales figures are there.
With all due respect, this is a bitter and unnessersary rant against the progression of the Arsenal's kit.
I quite like the new kit, the white sleeve is evident. Its been slicked or stylised, thats all.
How dare you suggest Arsenal fans not buy the new Arsenal jersey, this is an income stream that is needed. I will buy one, to support Arsenal, financially. Its the only thing I can do.
I have come to notice a negative, bitter and disrespectful tone in recent articles on this website. Stop complaining.
I could understand the protest and would fully support it if the sleeves were 100% red, but they have a lot of white. As the white part is on the top of the sleeve they do appear predominantly white.
As others have pointed out, we wore similar sleeves in 94/95 and 95/96.

No I won't. I have a right to complain about something I don't like or agree with. Whether the shirt looks nice or not is not the issue. (Personally I don't like the shirts with the massive advert on them).
The issue is that it does not represent the proper design of an Arsenal shirt. If I want to appeal to people not to buy it, I shall.
as i said earlier on another thread,i wont be buying this because it is not an arsenal shirt to me,, yes it might have the badge but it is still more like charlton then arsenal
will buy the new yellow shirt thou
Arsenal are red with white as the secondary colour on the sleeves, as is this kit...
So it's not entirely white? Come on people weren't complaining about the all red shirt we wore in a tribute to the old kit. And in which case surely people should complain about the white sleeves, because in that kit it was all 'redcurrant' red without any white.
Tradition of how much of the sleeves should be white is really a bit over-fussy I think. If you don't like it and don't want to buy it because it's over-priced and made by a company who use thousands of child labourers earning almost nothing with serious human rights breaches- whilst Nike make huge profits, fine. But I really think the fact that the sleeves aren't entirely white is being taken far too seriously.
In the same way we broke our tradition of using British players (and with good reason), a bit of evolution of the kit- in all probability for just one season- is really not such a terrible thing.
I can't honestly recall us having a particular tradition of using British Players
I thought we only used them for the same reason every other team did so. The reason being that players never used to play outside their own country anyhow.
Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think it was ever a particular tradition.
