can we win the leauge

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

can we win the leauge

Post by REB »

lot of chat here last few days bout ur squad, some say its ok while others think we need 2,3 new players,, im using my head instead of my heart by saying we can, my reasoning is that last season we fecked up against the bottom teams and if we can sort that out we,ll be fine, just hope im right

Soory but I think not!

We are still short of whats needed and as much as I hate seeing it I think we could find it tough this year!

God I hope Im wrong but I just dont see us scoring enough anyhow and god forbid if RVP gets crocked!

Although i too agree about how important RVP is to the team, i think the same goes for pretty much any team in terms of needing their most important players to stay injury free.

If Chavski lose Drogba for a lengthy period, which striker is going to bang in the goals for them? Likewise Torres at Liverpool (if he even gets them in the first place!). Even Man'Ure, if Ronaldo had been out last season for the same amount of time as RVP and Henry were they would have dropped points quicker than Cheryl drops her Victoria's Secrets!

We do need another 1 or 2 signings (as well as Sagna) but if (and hopefully when) we strengthen further between now and September 01 then why not?

In a mini-league of games between the top 4 from last season we came out on top, in a mini-league between the top 10 we came 2nd (only a few points behind Man'Ure)... obviously we need to learn to win those games against the "smaller" teams but we have the players to do that! And now nobody fears us anymore  , those same smaller teams are more likely to come and actually try and play football against us... at which point they will realise (too late) that they are in deep Dudu!

Strange thing cos some guy that was in the Arsenal shop thinks we can
I say we can do the DOUBLE
We need to look at the trophy/cup & say we want to win it
It may be different for fans with some wanting the FA cup, Champs League etc
We have alot of young players now & it would be nice if we won the CC in the 1st year back at Wembley

There's no doubt we'll be dipping into the transfer market again but as usual there'll be some surprises cos AW keeps things low profile, and it's often lastminute.com!
It's not that nobody wants to see a another signing or two, but most are aware that we operate differently in the summer and that we are not as far off the pace, as some are makin out!

lastminute.com a good description of what happens every summer, i reckon that one will enter common usage, it also seems to be what happens in most of our games

How many teams do well in their first season at a new stadium? Our younger players have another years experience. Although TH has gone and taken away that ability for the sublime, he's also taken away the ability for a Captain to stand with hands on hips looking to the heavens when the ball doesn't come his way. The younger players will be released from the shackles when Gilberto takes over the Captaincy. RVP is going to finally show us what we've known for ages, to lead the line and be a 20+ goals man. Eduardo is the man who will finally SHOOT and score scrappy goals. Walcott is another year closer to fulfilling his potential, and as always my friends, Tottenham Hotspur will be shit again!!! We might not win the league but life won't be as bad as some of us think. UP THE GUNNERS!!!!

I think we'll win the league. For all the reasons mentioned above.

And, even if we don't win the league, at least we'll finish higher than Tottenham!

We need to take it one match at a time and take every match as a cup final. If we get a flying start and get the momentum and remain relatively injury free, I see no reason why we cant be challenging for the title towards the end of the season. Lets not forget whatever squad we have and no matter how much the other teams strengthen their squad, we will be favourites and should beat 16 of the remaining 19 teams. Thats where you win or lose the league, your performances against the weaker teams. We need to stay together, fight as a unit and play with passion and play for the badge. I think the more people rule us out at the start of the season, the better it is for the boys.

If you don't believe, we wont win the league, do you think Arsene Wenger is going to let the players on the pitch believing that they have to settle for 2nd best? NO he won't, as long as the players believe then i 100% believe aswell :D

Arsene Knows Best 8)
