Arsenal and Mikel Arteta have now reached a stage of negotiation where potential transfers are being discussed, with it now widely anticipated the former midfielder will take the job before the weekend. [@Independent]
That should be a short list....unless its the players that they want out of course.

I keep reading and hearing the word transitions. Freddie uses it, Dick did and now Arteta. It is the new trendy buzz word and I can only guess at what it means, Arsenal players coming out on the pitch dressed as women or secretly wearing ladies underwear.
Probably has something to do with how compact the team is as a unit. According to Guardiola roughly 30 yards from attack to defense is about optimal in team depth. With us it's about 40-50 yards with 6 players up attacking and then trying to win the ball back when we inevitably lose it.

So according to the Guardian, Don Carlo wanted huge wages, a 5 season contract and his own son as assistant manager!

Whist not my first or even 2nd or 3rd choice. If it is to be Arteta, then I will support him until I see good reason not to.
He seemed nailed on to get the job, prior to Emery appearing from nowhere and being hailed as a master tactician, meticulous in his planning and posessing a real attention to detail, wooing the board with his knowledge of the squad and his plans to build a team around Ramsey!
Well we all know how it turned out, a fucking car crash that was allowed to continue into a second season!
I would say the board have had to go cap in hand to Arteta, given that it appeared at the time that he had already been assured the job was his, only for the club to renege.
If he is to be appointed then, we should expect and accept nothing less than the following.
1. After 3 months, an indication that he is capable of doing the job!
2. By the end of the season, to have restored some pride in our performances and any player who hasn’t performed, to be put on the transfer list.
On Ancelotti? Mmmmm ! He hasn’t covered himself in glory recently and his best days may be behind him and could prove a very costly mistake.
You're getting soft Sid.

For me if he's in charge during the Everton game I expect nothing less than a goal within the first five minutes, a further five goals after that, a clean sheet and 95% possession otherwise I'm afraid it's 'Tets out.

Haven't posted for ages but for what it's worth really feel the need to right now.Arteta ,wtf!! How can he be the solution when he was a big part of the problem, just another overpaid ,underskilled individual who was never good enough for the club!part of Wenger's snowflake culture stealing a living! And to add insult to injury we will have to pay man city compensation for his services. City are larfin all the way to the bank, talk about being mugged off, mugged off by the champions, already superior to us in every department now taking the piss out of us, add to that ancelotti is available on a free, you couldn't make this shit up,im just so glad I contribute nothing financially to this cluster fuck and haven't for years.i think we are at the point now where we really need to properly get the ball rolling regards removing kreonke,we CAN do this,it needs all forums, Aftv ,everybody to designate a game or games where the fans dont turn up,if this is done for long enough wiggy will sell up,might take a season but an empty stadium removed wenger and emery,it can be done. missing out on pep, klopp, jose wasn't fate,it was always planned that after wenger we would have a no mark as manager,a yes man, somebody who costs very little and bows down to the kreonkes every wim,how the fuck do us supporters realise that this will back fire yet the morons running this club dont understand this? What dont they get? you cant put right a bad decision with another bad decision which is what we are doing!this will lead to another bad decision, our season will turn into a car crash.remember when we missed out on CL for the first time and how that felt well nothing is gonna compare to that feeling of relegation that we will have come March, this is real and its looming,we arent too big to go down and right now I think putting all the drama aside we are quite possibly one of the worst sides to ever grace the premier league, only time will tell but right now like so many our future is very very concerning and weighs heavy on my mind every single second of every day.we are no longer a football club but an internet meme
great post - more passion in this than most of the current Emirates crowd put together.

i can see the pros of Arteta - he has at least been working in the Premier League.
however what you can't get away from is that this would be his FIRST managerial appointment at a club where there would be limited funds.
we probably should have gone with him to replace Wenger and not Emery but we didn't and the fact is we are in a much worse place now.

for that reason the club MUST appoint an experienced manager. a Sam Allardyce figure who would get the players to fight for every point.
the manager who impresses this season is Chris Wilder, but of course the Arsenal of 2019 think they are too good for those sort of appointments

"My philosophy will be clear. I will have everyone 120 per cent committed, that’s the first thing. If not, you don’t play for me. When it’s time to work it’s time to work, and when it’s time to have fun then I’m the first one to do it, but that commitment is vital. Then I want the football to be expressive, entertaining."

"I cannot have a concept of football where everything is based on the opposition. We have to dictate the game, we have to be the ones taking the initiative, and we have to entertain the people coming to watch us. I’m 100 per cent convinced of those things, and I think I could do it,"
Straight from the school of everyone's favourite French fraud.

No offence rob, but chris wilder has 5 months premier league experience - I'd wait for a few years before I would start ringing his bell if I was you

When Emery was appointed I said on here that I had my doubts and should have gone for Antonio Conte, because he knows how to defend (oh, and he won the PL too.) I was at the game on Sunday, and it was frankly embarrassing.

Massive misgivings over Arteta - Guardiola makes every decision at City and I suspect Arteta may be little more than a nodding dog. Also, you really want some degree of personality, stature and presence to instill confidence both in the team and at the club. I am sure Arteta speaks decent English, but I really can't see him coming across as passionate in any way.

Who would I go for? Long term, not sure, but short-term, give it to Sam Allardyce until the end of the season, and I think he would sort a few things out and bring back a bit of passion. He was appointed as England manager so that's hardly a bad CV. He always wanted a chance to have a go at a big club, and for half a season, he might just prove a few people wrong, and be worth a longer contract.

When you manage an unfashionable club, like him, or Sean Dyche, then assumptions just seem to be made as to their limitations, ie focusing on the long ball game. But their limitations are possibly shaped largely by that club's potential, and that's probably just to stay up. Would Guardiola do any better at Burnley than Dyche, with the same players?

I'd feel more confident with one of those in charge for the next six months - it certainly can't get any worse for sure. Not sure I would want Eddie Howe though, a bit wishy-washy. You need someone with a bit of authority, to encourage defenders not to get out of the way when the opposition shoots at goal and to tell the midfield to actually close people down. And if that takes a kick up the posterior in a dark corridor to get the message across, then so be it. Ferguson did it all the time.

Anyway, I am no one will listen to me! Probably just as well!

NOT Arteta, ffs. Another with no proven record of management, and to the extent he can take any personal credit for City's success he isn't exactly showing that he knows how to recruit and coach defenders.

Wiggy in the boardroom is bad enough. Wiggy on the touchline would be unbearable.
