Liverpool are putting some of their non playing staff on furlough, that means , as far as I am aware, that the Government will pay 80% of their wage...Wonder what the man of the people Stupid Teeth thinks of that.

That is exactly what I am driving at - putting 80% of their staff's wages onto the taxpayers seems to be acceptable despite the clubs being owned by some of the wealthiest people in the world  Where is that dickhead politician now, or is commenting on a players short-term career the only thing up for a moral crusade ? :censored:
And they announced a record profit in their last set of accounts

It’s nothing short of scandalous
Liverpool FC getting a lot of flak over this..Especially from their own supporters...Seems that some of them even have morals..

What a shower of wan.kers they are. The scum, the toon and the victims continue to be a total embarrassment to themselves. I can understand the likes of Norwich and Bournemouth struggling to an extent but even they should be having a word with their accountants. Football run as a business, well that's a joke given that such a high percentage of turnover is paid in wages to so few individuals without bothering to leave anything much in the reserve pot for a rainy day. Such a classless industry full of mercenary cu.nts.

Without wishing to put ruin your point there, but our club are after being in front of a tribunal/court trying to get out of paying an add on payment that we agreed to when we signed Martinez (sub keeper) from his Argentinian club - apparently our embarrassment of a club didn't want to pay the agreed amount for appearances because they felt that Europa league appearances shouldn't count  And if that lame ass argument wasnt bad enough, you then hear that the disputed payment is only £400k and you just look for a hiding place cos it is another shameless and classless display by a club that used to be renowned for it's class

400 or so multi-millionaires refusing to take a pay-cut because their corrupt union is telling them that this will harm the country through lost taxation is like a serial killer telling the world he's going to keep killing because he's worried about prison officers losing their jobs. If anyone needed any further proof that footballers are mostly fucking cûnts and their union is run by a fucking greedy, nasty cûnt it is this. Fuck off the lot of you, you spoilt fucking brats, fuck off.

Danny Rose paid £19000 to North Middlesex hospital last week.

No matter what you think about the spuds, this gesture should really be replicated all over the premier league. Has Mesut given up any of his £350k a week yet?

Agree 100%. But will people remember this when the games start again and fans flood back? The whole episode stinks and none more so than the leader of the cesspit PFA, Gordon Taylor. Is he really any different to Sepp Blatter and his corruption? I was losing the love of the game slowly anyway, but this is it for me now. No more putting my hard-earned into the pockets of greedy scumbags, as in the owners and the players. Sky can shove it as well. When it does all comeback, I’m going non-league!

Is it not true that the players are giving some of their wages but want control of where the money goes ? The story doing the rounds yesterday evening was that the players were happy to give up 30% of their wages but only to go towards the NHS staff and treating patients - they (rightly imo) argue that paying the non playing club staff is the responsibility of the owners

It isn't the responsibility of the owners - it's the responsibility of the management appointed by the shareholders, just like at my company and all others. As part of the senior management/earners nobody told us to do anything - not the owner, not the executive board in another part of the world. We got together as a group and looked at people at the bottom end of the earnings spectrum then at ourselves and just decided to do what was right. Oh, and we certainly didn't wait for the fucking government either

Whatever football does now is slow out of the blocks and doing it to try and protect its image rather than from the heart.

That's a slightly different issue I would suggest - although I agree it's petty and stupid nontheless. Reports are that we have finally settled the issue so we were in the wrong. However, if we want to challenge a clause in a contract then we have every right to do so. If we are in the wrong then the other party can make legal representation and hand us our ass in court and win costs as well as their money. That is part of doing business, there's always somebody trying it on.

We don't come out of it looking very good but that doesn't even come close to what the scum and victims are upto at the moment. That said, there is no doubt in my mind that most club owners in the country are itching to pull the same stunt as from a business perspective it makes total sense.....but from a social acceptance angle it's a complete no no.

I read something along those lines. If the players give up 30% of their wages to the club then there is no guarantee the money goes anywhere other than back into the club's bank account / wiggy's pocket. However if they take their full pay then they can donate the 30% from it directly to the NHS. Apparently some have already done so - they obviously have better PR teams than most.

But if we are going to get all high and mighty about footballers then you have to include every other super rich bugger too.

That's where I am coming from as well - footballers nowadays are detatched, full of their own self importance, arrogant cocks who care more about themselves and their image than they do about their clubs and the game itself, BUT I don't think that it is fair that the financial spotlight is falling on them and them alone - has anyone asked what lewis Hamilton (for example) is doing to help out ? What about all those hugely wealthy businessmen and women ? Those people are in jobs that can pay them millions for well over a decade, whilst footballers have in comparison a much smaller window to make their money - that isn't to say that the players shouldn't contribute financially, but more a point that there are others who should have the spotlight put on them before footballers do

God Rooney is a thick shit, does he not realise that football is a PR exercise in times like this. People cannot identify with players sitting at home earning hundreds of thousands and not offering financial assistance to charities or local hospitals without being asked.

Why, in this case, is he as thick as shit ? He is a high profile player coming out to fight for the integrity of the players - if he stayed silent it would ensure that the players will continue to be lambasted publicly by the media and fans, and as I said before, that aint right, Footballers are getting torn apart whilst F1 drivers, golfers and countless others remain untouched

It's easy to defend one's integrity in hindsight, footballers are the most high profile sportsman around and they are also being paid for sitting on their backsides. Hence being the subject of quite valid questioning.

The same applies to the other sports btw if they are being paid by the week as opposed to by the tournament, as is the case for Golfers and Tennis players say. There are footballers that have already unilaterally supported their wider communities.
