We had the Junior Gunners and Canon Club which were very cheap but not free.Cus Geezer wrote:In the days of the terrace they were never charged, unlike the 'family friendly' all seater era.QuartzGooner wrote: That said, think it is waste of ticket to take kids under age 6, cos they do not concentrate and the cry and moan and do not understand what is going on.
You had to pay as a kid if you wanted to sit too.
Not sure about standing as very young kid as I did not stand until my teens.
Maybe you sneaked under the turnstile?
At the weekends there is no wxcuse for it. Its fucking outrageous and an insult to those of us who do stay behind - where the fuck do allo these early leavers have to be on the weekend?? Fair enough some will have genune reasons to leave early but 98% of them dont. Theres nothing worse then watching all these arseholes block your view of a match that you too have paid good money to watch only to see some twats fat body blocking your view (even if your standing in which case its his fat head and upper body half!

the ones that really do my head in are the ones that decide to vacate their seats and head for the exit, but then stop on the stairs to block everyone's view if something interesting develops on the pitch. if you must go, then f**k off out of it at a speed of knots and stop blocking the view of those who choose to stay for the entire match.

As the author of the article, I feel I should also respond, especially to rebel gooner, NBN, Davros and EC3. I have nearly been to Arsenal games on a few occasions, only for something to fall through at the last minute due to bad luck. As a student in London there is always the issue of money, which has been another key reason for my absence in recent years. But then this is not about how many games I go to or have been to. I accept I haven't been to many games but those I have been to I have always got behind the team for the whole 90 minutes. And for your information I'm in the process of signing up to Red Membership in time for next season. After seeing what I saw in the Reading game (and, by luck/facebook I managed to get to go to the Everton game too where it also happened) it disgusted me to see people who are lucky enough to get tickets treating it like it was some kind of annoyance to back the boys until the end, especially with the talent this team has. Because of this prawn sandwich lot I am determined to go to more games so there's a chance that these pricks don't go. When I used to go in the mid 90s I was watching the likes of Hillier, Kiwomya, Morrow, McGoldrick and many other players of that calibre in games that were a lot worse than the last 20 mins against Reading- here's looking at you, NBN. If you think that the ground is a morgue then why don't you set an example and be a bit more vocal and get off your high horse just because you happen to have a season ticket. And sorry, if you leave games early then you don't deserve your ticket. For all you know, Van Persie could have scored goal of the season (I'm just saying he could have done, stranger things have happened) whilst you were busy getting to the pub, that's the wonder of football.

I don't get early leavers either. even on weekday matches there is no excuse. I view seeing Arsenal as the highlight of my day and whatever time i get home is the time i get back home. I dont factor in travelling because i don't care. There are those attendees who clearly don't care much for the football and only attend to say they've seen The Arsenal and been to the Grove. But surely that would not amount to the thousands that leave in droves with 5 minutes left.
There is something about the final whistle that gets you everytime win or lose it brings the event to a solid conclusion, that last cheers for victory or the applause and cheers for a defeated side (thankfully rarely happens *touch wood*) are part of what makes the game what it is.
I was lucky enough to spend most of last season in the now legendary block 6 and for most of those the team would come over and applaud us at the end of the game, not just because were the loudest scarf swinging lot but also because were still there at the whistle. It does get noticed and regardless of weather you attend every match or one every now and then see it through whistle to whistle.
Arsenal are not a tourist attraction a football team who deserve support.

I was standing on the clock end throughout the nineties pal and can assure you back then i would not leave early, unfortunately these days it is much more fun in the pub. I don't deserve my season ticket? How many thousands of miles have you covered this season following The Arsenal? Fuck all i imagine, but well done for not leaving early on the single game you attended hope you had a super day out.Tommym wrote:As the author of the article, I feel I should also respond, especially to rebel gooner, NBN, Davros and EC3. Yes should have screens in the toilet.Cus Geezer wrote:Slightly off topic
Does anyone think that they should have screens in the toilets like at the sportsbar in Haymarket.
Unforgivable to leave the seat for refreshments, but allowed if your bladder is about to explode.
But the cost would be prohibitive for the use they would get.
Yes i agree, also lets all have headsets to listen to the commentary and little flags to wave when we score, lovely.QuartzGooner wrote:Yes should have screens in the toilet.Cus Geezer wrote:Slightly off topic

That's it in a nutshell why I don't get the early leavers. For all you know, Van Persie could have scored goal of the season (I'm just saying he could have done, stranger things have happened) whilst you were busy getting to the pub, that's the wonder of football.
I had a friend who admitted to me that he left Arsenal v Norwich in 1989 when we were 0-2 at HT and missed a 4-3 thriller and a punch up.
In 1991/92 there were loads walking out against Sheffield Wednesday with 1-1 with 20 mins to go, which ended 7-1.
These people are fucking weird.
You'll need the head set so you'll know who scored the late goal while your making the late dash to the pub.NBN wrote:QuartzGooner wrote:
