Samuel Eto’o spotted at Arsenal today (19/6)

Usual thread starter… now this could be a wind up with the victim being the source of the story. And by extension, me. I only know my source as reliable, but not the witness of Eto’o and Lewin in the Arsenal boardroom.
However, I’ve run the story as a kind of jigsaw piece fits into the space kind of thing. With Hleb to Barca and Adebayor to Milan it could kind of work to kill two birds with one stone – Hleb effectively paying for Eto’o’s transfer with Eto’o replacing Adebayor.
Does Eto’o need four chances to score a goal? That might be why Wenger can see the benefits of such a deal. Time will tell. Maybe he just popped in to have a cup of tea instead!

Woah...if true that we are buying him this could be part of a massive inter-connecting round of transfers!
I fear I would be disapointed with Eto"o.
Two years ago I rated him as second to only Henry in the game's forward men.
He had a sharpness and agility in front of goal that was the very best I had ever seen, even better than a peak Ian Wright.
I sat that humid Cahampions League Final night in Paris with mouth wide open watching his movement, both on and off the ball.
Since then he has had injuries.
I feel the sharpness and agility that made him a phenom have gone.
I hope I am wrong, but I think we would be buying a declining player.
If there was any trading to be done with Barcelona, I would rather have Yaya Toure.

He's scored 18 goals in 22 league games this season so must be still a good player
"I have been offered many players, like Petr Cech, who could have done well for us. Claude Makelele was close to signing for us, Samuel Eto'o too. I missed a few.
"Makelele was straight after Vieira came, August 1996. He was still in Nantes, and Eto'o, just before he joined Barcelona. It was between us and Barcelona."
Why didn't he miss out on Swiss Phil, Eboue and Aluminium?

Eto at Emirates
Hi all, Am George from Uganda and i can 100% confirm that Eto is currently in Uganda Promoting Omo up to 25th of this month. So any rumors that he was seen at highbury is not true.

Me too I'd have doubts over the credibility of such a post.
However, for the previous guy who stated that Eto'o is in Uganda promoting OMO, he will be there on the 22nd June:

Its a fat lie
Eto'o could not have been in London neither uganda promoting omo simply because he is with his Nation side the indomitable lions training for a Africa Nations Cup/World Cup Qualifier game against Tanzania on Saturday, 20th June in Cameroon!!!

in fairness - i did qualify the story and specifically stated it was gossip and may well not be true. however, it was such (to me) an unlikely scenario that it was interesting. and if it just happened to be true, i'd have kicked myself for not getting in with the speculation first.
for what it is worth, i don't actually think it is true. my instincts point to it being a wind up on my own source. but the individual who is doing the wind up if it is just that was definitely in highbury house yesterday. the bit about gary lewin also being there is what made me think it could just be true. why on earth would you make up a story with him in the boardroom with eto'o. it's a leap of the imagination too far.
anyway. time will tell...

Given that fact, maybe the 'source' of your friend was Rolypoly?gooner.ed wrote:in fairness - i did qualify the story and specifically stated it was gossip and may well not be true. however, it was such (to me) an unlikely scenario that it was interesting. and if it just happened to be true, i'd have kicked myself for not getting in with the speculation first.
