As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
When was the last time we actually had a decent set-piece? I reckon it was away to Nottingham Forest in 1988-89 when Steve Bould flicked on a corner for TA to head in. That or the 1993 FA Cup Final replay.
If your talking about the one I'm thinking, I'm sure that was 89/90 at home to them. TA diving in to the flick on after beating about 3 defenders to the ball without any care for himself. Great goal!
I know the one you mean and I think I'm getting it confused with this one at one minute 10 or so, which was by Stevie Bould from a flick-on. https://youtu.be/LqwyaYwA950
Then again, it's Sunday and I've just started having a drink so fuck knows what I'm really thinking.
Nope you're right The goal I'm thinking of is ingrained in my brain as I loved TA's desire to score in that set piece!
Both great goals for a player that knew what it meant to play for us!
Your one was a night game wasn't it and he just took off and threw himself at the ball, eyes on it barging the defenders out the way. Oh, the days when we actually had a bit of hunger in the box.
Kevin Campbells first senior goal for us (for all the stick he got, he'd probably do better than most of our current strikers), and Nigel Clough missing 2 penalties at the end!
The minute I saw he was starting with a two man midfield of Hleballos and Xhakatard my heart sank. Why not play 3 in there ffs?
Far be it for me to defend the man, but pep's coneman has been slated for negative tactics so today he goes with one attacking player ahead of dumb and dumber and gets slated for it - the problem we are having is that dumb and dumber are getting caught ahead of the game instead of just sitting in front of back 4 and letting others do the attacking
