Same team as chelsea game exception Auba in for Lacazette
Think Lacazette can consider himself unlucky based on that last appearance, but very pleasing that the three youngsters behind him have been kept the same

Would still prefer to see Ballerina out of the team but pretty much it's the team we all wanted

Hopefully Auba see's a difference in the speed the balls come to him from the middle, I can only hope we've given up on this cross it in to him lark!
Laca worked hard against Chelsea leading the line chasing and taking the knocks, looking forwrad to seeing Martinelli, Saka, Smith Rowe and Tierney in action

Gotta feel for Lack he had a very good game against the chavs and lead from the front by example.

Just hope Auba can score a few more and get back in the goal scoring groove!

I said yesterday that all 11 that started against the chavs last saturday should also start this game - laca is in that dressing room now asking himself what he did worse than the other 10 seeing as he is the only one to have lost his place. When players play well both on an individual basis and collectively as a team, then they should be "rewarded" by holding their place despite better players on the bench, and I worry that when he brings laca on as a sub, he will be bringing on a pissed off player who will then produce one of his sullen/moody performances

Ideally I think we’d all like to see the back of Xhaka but out of the team for who? With Partey injured, I genuinely think Xhaka is our best option

My hope was that Ceballos would kick on but he’s been so disappointing.

Stick with Xhaka until the summer then let’s hope we can upgrade and get rid :barscarf:

Yeah, I said the same once Partey was confirmed as being out of the side. I think AMN is the other alternative in there until he returns but the Swiss mong played well the other night so deserves to keep his place for once. To be honest Ceballos is even more fucking hopeless there so not really spoilt for choice!

Yeah, its very odd that 10 remain in the side and he doesn't. If Auba had previous seasons' form I'd say tough shit as he deserved to walk back into the side, but actually think Lacazette has been ok in the last 2 or 3 games he's played. He certainly holds the ball up better than any of our other alternatives (apart from Balogun who clearly is deemed surplus to requirements bizarrely)

Brighton have made six changes - their team looks absolutely woeful. Honestly if we can't beat these tonight we need to hang our heads in shame. One home win in 2020 and when I see that line up, I can see why

Pre match interview pitch side and the interviewer asked arteta if sticking with 10 of the same starting team is a recognition of the good performance v the chavs, and after an initial pause he went on to say that yes it was because the performance was good, but that again brings the focus back on laca's dropping cos it implies that he didnt play well.
Interviewer also put it to arteta how encouraging it must have been to see the young players playing so well - the vast majority of managers would have gone with that narrative by praising the young players and boosting their confidence, but instead arteta deflected away from that by saying that older players played well too. I dont "get that" - the benefit's young players can draw from their manager publicly praising their performance, far outweighs any boost a senior player will get from those comments, so why not give the young players some more encouragement ?

Tbh I'd play anyone in there ahead of the idiot Xhakatard. Anyone. Even Pillock.

While the game mostly passes Pillock by at least he doesn't keep making stupid fouls and passing to the oppo - mostly because he can't get a touch - whereas fucktard Xhakatard is an absolute liability.

Someone above said he played well the other day. He didn't. He scored a brilliant free kick. Nearly every other touch he had was shite.
