Just a theory , but I reckon that it's because of our perfect pitches .
How many soft tissue injuries can you remember in your playing days on park pitches. I played until I was 50 yrs and hardly remember any for myself or teamates .
Park pitches are not flat and ankles , calf muscles learn to compensate as you run over them , muscle memory and strengthening I believe it's called.
When you look back at clips of George Best , Alan Hudson and other skillful players and the state of the pitches they played on , mainly mud and sand from January to May . I don't remember the rate of soft tissue injuries being so high .
kicked to death maybe but not strained muscles.

But also if you look at the leg muscles of the old players they were ripped pure muscle. The modern snowflakes all have the legs of 200 yard runners. That muscle mass could take some abuse back in the day but now these thin legs just can't.

My theory is the sponsored carpet slippers they wear as boots may be the reason for some of the injuries, especially the blade-type ones that do not turn in the ground as easily as the round studs. They look like they are made for speed rather than support.

I was talking about Partey but I could easily have meant Tierney. So frustrating the amount of games these 2 are missing due to injury.

This season may have been a lot different had these 2 been fit for every game.
