As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Gingerish hair? I prefer to think of it as strawberry blond ! Actually grey now....!
It was Dave BUTCHER and he was the real ginger! His Arsenal career highlight was losing it one time in the clock end v Millwall. We'd realised that some of their firm were right next to us. I sh*t myself (as usual), but he just went milling in to them on his own - then everyone else joined in. To say they looked a bit shocked was an understatement !!
I went to school with Paul Hood in Harlow - nice bloke. I'd be fairly sure he lost the eye as a kid though. Think it might have been an accident involving a broken bottle. Seem to remember that he enjoyed taking it out of the socket for a laugh!
Did you start off as a Harlow boy before moving up the social ladder to Sawbo then Cambridge.... ??

Butcher, Baker Candlestick maker all pretty much the same!
Strawberry Blonde yes I like that. Where is Dave now?
Hoody told me once that at school his eye was dropped in the custard at lunch time. Peterswood was it MK?
I lived in Epping a long time back and think I knew you and dave (Tom too) at the Half Moon.

Custard rings a bell...! It would have been Latton Bush Comprehensive, or wherever he went to Junior School.
Tom? The West Ham fan? Does that mean you also played footie at Brays Grove? Most of the Epping West Ham fans were great blokes. But I went with them a couple of times to see Arsenal at Upton Park - and there was one bloke who was an ex-boxer and a nutter! He seemed to regard me & Dave as fair game as we were gooners. I think it must have been Tom who was our protector!
Dave was a really good mate (and massive gooner) for years. He had a slight (!) problem in his love of alcohol. Would often opt to stay in the Woodbine rather than go to matches.....then stopped going altogether!
There is a danger at this stage that we'll bore everyone silly so feel free to PM me.
yes mate moved away a while ago but spent my school years there and much of my young adult life. Very sp*rs town isnt it? i shudder every time i walk past their shop at the town centre
This thread is becoming dangerously personal, so I've asked for PMs before someone says something that will destroy what little credibility I had remaining...... !!

Yes Tom is a big old boy and would have looked after his mates. I do recall a boxer in the crowd but the name escapes me. I will check it out with the lads. The Bruce Grove school you mentioned would be the one near the Saxon Inn hotel. One afternoon the Space Shuttle went over on the back of a Jumbo Jet.
Nobody on here will believe that last bit just hope you were there and can verify for our on line Gooner friends.

Who is your dealer and does he deliver (no just chicken and fish! Boom Boom!)?
I'd like to say at this stage that I've never been to Harlow, never met Cambridge Dustman and haven't a f*cking clue who "Tom" is !!!!
PS Yes I do remember the Space Shuttle on the back of the jumbo jet.....but no-one ever believes me so I tend not to talk about it !!! It was actually in the news a couple of weeks back as its the xxxth anniversary! And Bruce Grove is a station near WHL. The school was called Brays Grove.....
For those of you who could not read MK Gould's tiny ashamed ramblings here it is blown up...........is that a bad choice of phrase when it comes to space shuttles?

Have been browsing the forum for a while but felt compelled to write after reading this post...so many memories! Here's a few of my own...
Got taken to the Home Of Football aged 7 by my Grandad in December 1980 (a 2-1 win over Man U) and we sat in the West Stand Lower for £3 each.
Started going regularly from mid 80's - seem to remember it being £1.50 with Junior Gunners card...and as was mentioned, sneaking onto the North Bank from the family enclosure.
Anyone remember the bloke who used to shout 'Come On You Rip Roaring Reds!!!' at regular intervals at which point the entire North Bank would reply 'Shut Up!'..think he was called Ginger and used to wear a baseball cap. He also had an alternative 'Come On You ???? Gunners!!' but i could never quite make that one out.
Also the 'get your peanuts here' bloke, could never forget him...regular crowds of nearly 60,000 squeezed into Highbury (for the big games) before the Taylor report...and of course the top side/middle chants.
I remember an away trip to Millwall (the old Den) which was the first & only time i went there, one of the scariest experiences of my life, absolutely terrifying...and Rocky swallowed his tongue and Millwall wouldnt kick the ball out for ages...and i think we won 2-1 with a Martin Hayes winner off his knee...
Also Millwall at home (a cup game i think) when it was kicking off all over with helicopters circling overhead and all the Millwall jumping into the family enclosure, beating people up indiscriminately...
And a riotous away game at Norwich when i swear we came from behind to score 4 goals in about 10 minutes and win 4-2...
My memories of these days are slightly hazy so i may need to be corrected on some of the above points..
Sadly i only get to see the boys in action 2 or 3 times a season now, despite still living in the area (just across the border in N17!!!) I have been pretty much priced out of going on a regular basis...either way still a Gooner Til I Die!!!
