ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Ah yes 'tactics' I remember them. Was back in the George Graham days we last used them.
Are they making a comeback?

Arsenal initially wanted to pay less than €15m for Albert Sambi Lokonga, whilst including a bonus related to winning the Premier League next season. Anderlecht turned this down, but Lokonga ‘will play for Arsenal next season’, with ‘the transfer almost complete’. [@voetbalkrant] https://t.co/l0Sws4uLls

Anderlecht should have taken the piss and said: "Pay us €18m and if you win the league next season, we'll have a unicorn, a dragon and a mermaid from you."gooner265 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 3:55 pmyou couldn't make it up

Arsenal are on the verge of concluding a deal for Albert Sambi Lokonga. Arsenal will pay €17.5m, rising to €22m in bonuses. Anderlecht wanted 15% resale percentage, but ‘hands were shaken’ at 5%. Lokonga will now have his medical. [@voetbalkrant] #afc https://t.co/gmw15LYO6j
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
When Kroenke said we should get excited over transfers, do you think he was referring to us signing a recently relegated keeper, a reserve left back, and a midfielder who is one for the future from the Belgian leagues?

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
One of the papers did a headline on a small article saying "Arsenal splashing out on transfers" - turns out that the "splashing out" was €30m (euro's not pounds) on the two highlighted players

I know that I keep going back to it, but how any paper can write a story a month ago suggesting raheem sterling is a transfer target is beyond me

I see that speculation continues that Aouar is available for a cut price deal still - if we aint gonna use torreira or guendouzi next season, then we should offer either in part exchange for Aouar to lyon
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
It's obvious by this pursuit of ESR, Grealish is on the move. We let them have Martinez, can't make that same mistake.nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 9:53 amApparently according to the Athletic, Villa upped the offer for ESR to £30m. I know I have stuck up for Arteta in the past, but if they sell ESR then to me that proves they don't understand Arsenal and its history. Our great teams have always been built on a core of local English lads.

Is Pope better than Leno? Yes. What's Pickford got to do with any of it. Seaman was behind 40 yo Shilton, Woods and Dave Beasant when we bought him, on the international stage. The point I was making with Martinelli is that I'd have him play as a striker through the middle instead of Auba. So, Willian or Dan James who would you start with or prefer having come off the bench?augie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 9:52 amNos89 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 11:33 pmBeen saying this for years. Although Willian and Luiz are Premier League proven players and they didn't work out too well, however, given our current status against the chavs it was a step down for them. At least for Ben White it will be a step up if all goes through. Personally, I'd like us to sign Pope from Burnley. Germany's no.4 keeper for England's no.2. Also, if we are after a winger I have liked the look of Wales's Dan James from Manure during the Euros. I would normally look up and across europe for players but given our current meandering in 8th, no european football, it is hard to see us getting top players to come to us. Whilst a lot of people wouldn't think this would be a great signing, if we got Sterling from Man City, that would be a major coup. Apparently, Arteta had an excellent relationship with Sterling and was able to get the best out of him, so it may not be totally out of reach for us, if the player wants to work with Arteta again. Sterling, Martinelli, Saka with ESR as a front four would be something worth shouting about. I still think Auba will be sold.
I say this with absolute conviction buddy, but that highlighted line deserves to have your account on here permanently suspended - the guy is absolute, absolute dogshit![]()
Re the goalkeepers remark, can I suggest that putting on your cv that you are back up to jordan pickford isnt the greatest selling point to future employers who would/should be interested in better - let's be honest, how many people on here would be begging the club to sign pickford if he was available in the morning ? I know that I for one wouldnt be, and pope isnt even considered to be better than pickford![]()

For starters pep's water boy WONT play martinelli through the middle anyway, but if he did, them my preferred winger options would be saka, pape and nelson, and then maybe Tyreece John-Jules - I'm sick of the club buying cast offs from the likes of the chavs and manure, and I would rather try out one of our own academy players
Seaman was behind quality keepers in shilton and woods - pope is not. Pickford is an average keeper whose cockiness far exceeds his talent, and not one big club would go in for him if he was up for sale in the morning. If we are changing our keeper can we please make it a decent sized upgrade ?

Nuno Tavares’ move to Arsenal ‘may be closed’ later today. Arsenal will pay €8m + €2m in potential bonuses. The player will travel to perform medical examinations ‘in the next few hours’. Tavares will triple his wages in London. [@abolapt] #afc https://t.co/jaNrYh5irj
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Here's another example of how they waste money. Why triple the guy's wages? He'd be happy with double but no, our idiots in charge like to throw money to, in this case, an unheard of player.gooner265 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 12:03 pmNuno Tavares’ move to Arsenal ‘may be closed’ later today. As of this morning the figure is more like 973 different players.Clummo99 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 4:16 pmArsenal’s summer strategy is based on the scattergun principle. Get linked with 573 different players but faff around signing nobody of note but an unknown from the Belgian or Portuguese leagues. Then just after the season starts sign a couple of over the hill hasbeens on huge wages who just happen to be Kia Joorabchian's clients.
Said players will of course play in positions that are well covered already.
