ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Saliba is a young player officially sent out to gain experience - unofficially we all know that he is being sent away cos pep's cone boy doesnt want him, but either way he still falls into the young players exception rule that I mentioned
IF (as has been reported) willian and torreira want out and have told this to the club, then they are not entitled to any money towards their wages or any contract buy out from the club, so surely even accepting £10m for torreira makes sense given that we would have an extra £10m for the transfer kitty AND get his wages off the books with no hit. Yes I would say that he is worth more than £10m, but for me accepting less than market value is far more preferable than keeping them or loaning them out and having this same shite next summer

Fair point on saliba and I hope we can sell Torreira but loan with an obligation to buy at least generates cash next summer.augie wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 11:04 amSaliba is a young player officially sent out to gain experience - unofficially we all know that he is being sent away cos pep's cone boy doesnt want him, but either way he still falls into the young players exception rule that I mentioned

Willian though… seriously, no one is mad enough to buy him surely?

Donnarumma off to PSG makes Keylor Navas available. at 34 he wouldn't be expensive and you would think PSG wouldn't stand in his way if he wanted to leave.
Or, the mail have us bidding 35m for Ramsdale, because you know he is English. I can only imagine what Everton would want for Pickford. Probably 100m, and Man United might pay it if they have had enough of De Gea
I reckon every English player under 25 who played at the Euro's is worth 100m. We should be valuing Saka at more than 100m. And why the fuck wouldn't we? If Harry McGuire goes for 80m and Grealish is apparently going to City for 100m, Saka should be valued higher. Really, we should be assigning a value to Saka more than Spurs will ask for Harry Kane.
Saka is going to be England's best player in a few years I am convinced of it.
Makes you wonder though. This novelty of paying excess for domestic nationalities doesn't happen in Italy or Spain. Juventus will spent 90m on Ronaldo. Or Barcelona will spend 100m on Griezmann. But these are the high end of players. Where was Man United will spend 100m on a work horse centre half, or Grealish, a player who is 25 and has scored 15 top flight goals. Which is a tally Ronaldo or Griezman would get in half a season, let alone half their careers.

Looks like Willock will be loaned back to Newcastle
If it happens, I don’t get it. Keep him or sell him is fair enough but what will another loan achieve?! He’s not young anymore and we’re rebuilding our midfielder… if he’s good enough then now is his time. If not, sell him and reinvest!

I agree, it seems very odd - his stock will not got much higher than it was at the end of last season, so if we can sell him for £25m bloody we’ll do it.g88ner wrote: ↑Thu Jul 15, 2021 11:14 amLooks like Willock will be loaned back to Newcastle![]()

With Xhaxa going ? Odeegard gone back , Ceballos gone back, Guendozi gone, Torreira seemingly going there are openings galore in our midfield department if Willock, and for that matter Mailtand- Niles aren’t considered good enough to play now, then they never will be ( expecting this last line to be quoted back in red or bold )

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I think our club believe finances will be back to normal next season in other leagues, they are in for a rude awakening
Football across Europe especially at some of the biggest club's has taken a massive hit financially and it will take years for some of those club's to recover their losses and pay back borrowed money.
If our leadership think club's are suddenly going to be flush with cash to spend next year they really need to take another look

You are right though - they never will be.
