As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
If you want proper old school you need to go back to MrGnu.

Quartz was without doubt a thinking mans guy - he could have a rational debate with anyone regardless of what side of the fence you were perceived to be. I still have great respect for the guy cos of the way he conducted himself in debate on here (a lesson a d*ckhead on here could learn), even though we rarely agreed on a point of view
Arsenal are willing to pay Sassuolo's £34m asking price for their Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli, 23. (Fabrizio Romano via Sun)
Arsenal have entered the race to sign Norwich's 21-year-old English full-back Max Aarons - also linked with Bayern Munich - with the Gunners keen to land a replacement for Spaniard Hector Bellerin, 26. (Express)
Arsenal are looking to sell French striker Alexandre Lacazette, 30, to raise transfer funds for this summer. (Mirror)

Yeah, it was a real shame that Quartz left. Probably my favourite poster over the 13 years (how long?! ) that I’ve been posting here. He rarely got carried away, had interesting views (football, politics, music, etc) and was happy to argue a point in a respectful way. Big loss … you make the top 10 too augie
I could understand why he left but it was disappointing that he deleted his account. No way to contact him or for him to log in from time to time to comment. Never understood that really but never mind.
The Forum mirrors the first team. Back in the halcyon days there were a decent set of posters. They all were forced to leave over the last decade and slowly replaced by lesser mortals. Not many originals left to be fair.

Hope you’re well Quartz”y wherever you are
You just never know what is happening in people’s lives outside of the forum (aka the real world)
I come on here pretty much most days, would miss the banter and chat with my fellow Gooners if I didn’t, but at the end of the day, it’s really not important in the great scheme of things is it ?
Same as football in general. Would miss it like crazy, despite Arsenal driving me mad, but there are more important things in life.
( I would never have thought this as an youngster 1987 - 1995, were the best years of my life, following this club home, away and abroad and loved every moment.

Nope he wasn't, but it got to the point on here that the agenda just became stupidly over the top. If someone pointed out that Wenger actually got something right for once they were jumped on by a handful of idiots. Quartz liked to have a reasoned respectful debate but for a long time that was almost impossible on here. In the end I banned most of those idiots once they went too far with trolling or, in a couple cases, racism.
Most of the mods also quit or dropped off during that period because it was a full time job deleting offensive and libellous shit and trying to get people to cop on as we didn't want to be banning everyone.
In the end the owners shut the forum down temporarily and relaunched it with stricter rules for members and tighter guidelines for us mods.
Tbh I kinda liked Smoothy. He was a decent enough guy, and die hard Arsenal, just a bit odd. Particularly when pole dancing and miming "don't stop believing" !!
