#AFC look certain to spend over £100m before the window shuts and still want a new No2 keeper, striker (but that will most likely depend on Alexandre Lacazette going) and creative midfielder but the chances of James Maddison look slim. [@MirrorFootball]

Laca isn’t leaving. Not on that salary! (Same answer for Willian, Auba, Runarsson, Cedric, Bellerin)

How can you be certain to do something when most of it is dependent upon shifting players on bloated wages??? It just doesn’t logically follow. Something is certain when it is definitely going to happen. Our dealings are all ifs and buts. In the main we can’t do what we want to do because we have players on enormous salaries way out of kilter to their form and ability.

I am sick of hearing we can't spend x, we are in this position because those idiot American's who 'run' the club have let things go to sh!t, being 'hands off' is no excuse for incompetence, they need to pay off the dross and move the club forward, or better still sell the f*cking club to someone who cares more than seeing it as a piece of their pathetic portfolio of mediocre sports investments.

Agreed 100%.

Well, none of that justifies selling Willock. Obviously, our style is too good to cater for a goalscoring midfielder. Because we have them in abundance.
I must admit selling a Hale End graduate on the back of scoring 8 in 11 for Newcastle doesn’t sit well with me. Partly because our other midfielders simply don’t score goals and… well… I don’t trust Arteta’s judgement so if Arteta thinks selling willock is the right decision then it’s almost certainly the Wrong decision!
Except he has played almost 80 times under 3 different managers for us and not even looked close to those figures, are you advocating changing the entire team setup in the hope he can replicate something he managed during just 4 months of his 4 years of senior football. You see it is not just the manager who would have to change but the players around him would have to change their style as well. Do you honestly think Arteta is capable of implementing those changes or even seeing them if neither Wenger or Emery could......?

I seriously wish Willock luck at the Toon but he never showed enough for me with us to think the entire team setup should have been built around him, christ if we couldn't build a team around Ozil as he was when he arrived we were never going to build one around Willock

Arsenal are prepared to make a bid to sign Martin Ødegaard on a permanent deal. He’s always been Edu and Arteta’s priority as number 10. ⚪️🇳🇴 #AFC

Once Real Madrid gives the green light, Arsenal will submit the proposal.
Aouar, also in the list.
Maddison, never been close.

🚨 BREAKING: Real Madrid and Arsenal are negotiating the transfer of Martin Ødegaard. Madrid are willing to sell him permanently, the deal could be closed very soon. @AS_SergioSantos 🇳🇴

Things heating up in terms of Martin Odegaard, who has been left out of the squad for Madrid's season opener against Alavés. Madrid know he wants to leave and are looking for around €40-50 million. Talks with Arsenal set to accelerate @MarioCortegana

The logical part of me agrees with you but my confidence in Arteta/Edu’s judgement is so low after selling Martinez and signing Willian/Auba/Cedric/Runnarson that if they shouted “duck!” I’d jump…. If they said “look out! Turn left!”, I’d turn right because they’re almost always wrong! So if they want to sell willock, I naturally think we should keep him!

So our first preference is odegaard (plays the 10 position) and if that doesnt happen then Aouar (who plays the 8 position) is our back up option - how does that even make sense ?? :?

If we spunk £40m-£50m on odegaard, then you better get used to the greenpeace warrior being right full for the season, and the swiss turd being ever present in midfield.

The Times say None of Ainsley Maitland Niles, Mohamed Elneny, Sead Kolasinac, Lucas Torreria, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah or Willian form part of Arteta's long -term thinking, but the issue is, not many clubs are interested in their services either. #Arsenal https://t.co/FTmJaDURli

Certainly looks like Martin OhdearGod is coming in, €50m for a nothing player living off the hype as a 16yo, Arteta’s judgement on players is the worst I can remember from 50 years of supporting Arsenal. What did he do in half a season? Well he played an extraordinary number of 5-10 yard sideways passes, I called him a ‘nippy Denilson’ before, maybe he’s a blond Elneny?…..either way, we’re being shafted for 50% more than he’s worth! Arsenal are so fucked with Arteta and Edu the ‘Daz’ man (crisp ultra white shirts).

He definitely improved our attacking when he joined. He is much, much better than Willian (yes I know that is a low bar).
Didn't score 8 goals in 11 games with two assists though did he? Which is exactly what the player he replaced in the squad did at Newcastle.
No, but Newcastle play a different formation and system to us. Can you honestly see him getting those numbers with us? He wouldn't even be a starter if he stays.
Well, none of that justifies selling him. Obviously, our style is too good to cater for a goalscoring midfielder. Because we have them in abundance.
Of course it does. He is a squad player who doesn't fit into our way of playing and we need the money.

Hes not a terrible player...hes decent on the ball...had a good game at West ham...BUT he does not do enough...not a game changer...£40 million or more is ridicuous money

I cannot believe that some people are judging Willock on the 8 appearances he had for Newcastle and not the 80 appearances he's had for us.

Nelson is a great comparison. A decent season for Hannover 2 years ago but has basically been shit since he came back.

I'm going against the grain here and think the viking would be a good signing. He was fantastic against West Ham , didn't look the same after his injury but the potential is there for me and he was starting to link well with ESR as well.
