Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Tammy Abraham has received an approach from Arsenal. AS Roma chief executive Tiago Pinto is in ongoing talks in London trying to convince the player to join. [@FabrizioRomano] #afc

Odegaard and Abraham
If it gets any more exciting I'll need that cushion on my lap again

I'm with you there. Saw enough in his short loan spell to see he could be a top player.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Absolutely. Pillock was garbage for us. He was OK for the toon but nothing brilliant, then hit six goals in the last eight games or something - when the season was all but over, the pressure is off and most defenders are thinking about where they are going on holiday or what type of "Lambo" they are gonna buy. But apparently that makes him suddenly world class ffs.Clummo99 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 3:17 pmI cannot believe that some people are judging Willock on the 8 appearances he had for Newcastle and not the 80 appearances he's had for us.![]()
Nelson is a great comparison. A decent season for Hannover 2 years ago but has basically been shit since he came back.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Yep agree with that. Willock was never going to make it for us. Take the money on offer. Just the rest of the has beens, never will be's and no marks to shift i.e. half the squad !DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 6:34 pmAbsolutely. Pillock was garbage for us. I'd still take willock ahead of xhaka, Willian. I did like odegaard just didn't think we'd actually sign him permanently, therefore, 5 month loan was pointless exercise when the team is being rebuilt.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 6:52 pmYep agree with that. Clearly our tactics and formation works really well with our current squad players.fivetothree wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 4:09 pmNo, but Newcastle play a different formation and system to us. Can you honestly see him getting those numbers with us? He wouldn't even be a starter if he stays.Nos89 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:12 pmDidn't score 8 goals in 11 games with two assists though did he? Which is exactly what the player he replaced in the squad did at Newcastle.fivetothree wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 2:37 pmHe definitely improved our attacking when he joined. He is much, much better than Willian (yes I know that is a low bar).
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
So I’m still struggling with the Clive situation….
He was up for sale and the only taker was Roma for £10-12m (he’s on a reported £100k a week with 2 years on his contract so we’d save another 10m plus on wages, by selling)
We know he’s shit, so what do we do……give him a new longer contract on MORE money, so it’s another player that come next year, will be 30 years old, no chance of selling him at all and he’ll be on somewhere around £7.2m a year!
Where the fuck is the logic in that? It’s throwing money away, millions! I’ll not be at all surprised if we give Bellend a new contract next.
Arteta has not got anything positive to offer (forget the jokes about nice hair, black or grey Armani clothing….
His man management is poor
In-game management appalling
Substitutions bizarre and awful
Tactics…..fuck knows what they are
Judgement on players….may as well ask DB10’s Nan
Never learns from his mistakes
The list goes on, what a fucking disaster!!

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
We think that by signing players to new contracts on bigger wages maintains their sell on value. Wrong!!! It makes them unsaleable!!!

Its like a form of self harm isn't it - Mkhitaryan, Mustafi, Ozil, Willian, CliveBobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 11:24 amWe think that by signing players to new contracts on bigger wages maintains their sell on value. Wrong!!! It makes them unsaleable!!!

We've gone from the Wenger extreme of letting anyone half decent getting into their final season and panic selling, to having a squad full of overpaid clusterfucks that nobody wants and become expensive reserves

We are like Leeds under Ridsdale. Financial mismanagement on a grand scale. If we had a proper Football CEO come in and have a look at what is going on you could write a book about it.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 12:01 pmIts like a form of self harm isn't it - Mkhitaryan, Mustafi, Ozil, Willian, CliveBobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 11:24 amWe think that by signing players to new contracts on bigger wages maintains their sell on value. Looking at who is in charge it is no surprise. Our CEO who replaced Gazidis was the Head of Marketing. Promoted to CEO???!!! When you look at the Club, the marketing is on point. But the rest is a fucking disaster. CEO, Manager and Director of Football all novices. No wonder we are where we are.

I agree 100% with the bit in red, but that is setting the bar so low the bar is underground! Ultimately none of the three of them should be at Arsenal.Nos89 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:09 pmI'd still take willock ahead of xhaka, Willian. yes important point about the CEO appointment should have been an experienced person not a bean counterBobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 12:34 pmWe are like Leeds under Ridsdale. Don't know Willock still has time to improve and did seem to be doing so . The other two are just no hope journeymen.
On another note it seems that Atletico Madrid have just got £ 40 million for Diego Costa , perhaps they can now afford to underbid us for Lacazette and come out with a profit.

So is Willian injured, sick, leaving or simply dropped?
It’s mental that our 2nd highest earner, who we only signed last year, can be totally missing without explanation but the media ask fuck all questions about it?!
Ridiculous waste of money. This should be bigger news.
