Arsenal on verge of agreement with Sheff Utd to sign Aaron Ramsdale. £24m + £6m in add-ons (only likely to apply if/when 23yo is established 1st choice). #SHU initially wanted £40m. Proposed deal 4yrs + 1 option. Not in squad vs #WBA @TheAthleticUK #AFC https://t.co/aN8kJ70EBy
Maybe ´OhdearGod’ will be a good player when he’s 25 or 26? I’m very ‘whelmed’ by him at the moment. No other club in for him and his loan clubs were the mighty Heerenveen, Vitesse Arnhem and Real Sociedad……he couldn’t even get a loan to a decent club.
Just another tippy tappy 5 yard merchant who’s stats look great but he’ll end the season with 2 or 3 goals and 4 assists. If he’s worth 30m then ESR is 60m already.

At his age previous loans were about his development and his last loan was to us. I don't think we can be excluded from your "decent club" list.
If he was utter crap he wouldn't be at a club like Real Madrid in the first place, he'd be playing for someone like Rosenborg or Molde back in Norway!

It'd be more effective if we just set fire to £30m.
I’m sort of coming round to the idea of Ramsdale and Odegaard. Reckon they’ll turn out ok.
Ramsdale as a backup keeper isn't that bad on the face of it. When you see the fee involved and the fact we sold arguably our best keeper for less then it doesn't look so appealing.

Very young keeper. He’ll develop to be a top keeper I reckon.
Leno has been woeful and a walking calamity since last season. Selling Martinez and declaring him as the undisputed number one has made him complacent. We shouldn't be signing a back up but someone who will challenge Leno for the no 1 postion. I honestly don't know what I think of Ramsdale, he has played for relegated clubs so obviously has conceeded a lot of goals but has saved a lot as well. Is he good with the ball at his feet which seems to be a major criteria for Arteta? Is he commanding enough in dealing with crosses/corners? I am not convinced that he is any better than Leno if not worse.
I read somewhere that Matt Ryan said in an interview that the club told him we were specifically looking for a home grown keeper. Whatever the reasons may be for insisting on a home grown keeper, it does limit the options drastically.

He is supposed to be brave in the air which is an improvement on Leno, but it remains to be seen as to whether that means coming for balls and flapping at them. He had two errors leading to goals last term.

Back up keeper?....honestly think Leno needs replacing
As for Odergaard we have seen him last year...dont think he will suddenly become what we want.....I was against signing him

Yes he does and that's my point. £20m+ on a young backup is madness. That money is better spent on a first choice keeper.
Ramsdale would possibly be a decent signing if the fee was a lot less and a lot more realistic.
There is a reason no other top club were in for Woedegard, and he could never get a look in at Madrid.
8th-10th again this season.
Arteta Out.
Woedegard, really!
The lad joined us in the January window having hardly played any football for the first half of the season.
More experienced, more seasoned pros have struggled to adapt to our league so what we saw from him in those 6 months shouldn't be dismissed as crap.
Robert Pires was awful in his first season and he didn't turn out too bad.
It appears that loads on here expect every new player to hit the ground running and produce world class displays from day 1.
Hes definetly not crap Clummo.....but you can use same logic when i first saw Petit and Viera play in their first game....was totally amazed...they were
incredible
Players all adjust differently...what we have seen of Odergaard, especially at that price would be against signing him

Real Sociedad were his level, no other top club were remotely interested in signing him. Madrid don't sell their promising stars. Barely scores and barely assists, not the least bit excited about this one. Can he hack it in a much tougher league? I would love to be proved wrong.
He's a nice lad that won't rock the boat and do everything Arteta asks. You remember? The type of player everyone used to rightly slate Wenger for buying.
