League Cup

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

West Brom's total focus this season will be on getting back into the PL so I can't see them being anywhere near full strength for this as they won't want the distraction of it, so I can see nothing other than a handy away win here.

I have a sneaky feeling that Arsenal will lose this match. I will go with another 2-0 loss. Maybe a goal from a long throw?

Pressure will be starting on Arteta at that point and there will be excuses galore.

I have to say that I read somewhere that he has the ego of Mourinho, the tactics of Allardyce and the management ability of Sherwood is pretty apt.

He's been such a terrible appointment and one that has been given a shiteload of money to spend without any pedigree. It really shows how inept the Kroenkes are at running a football club. I reckon that anyone from this forum could be better custodians than the Kroenkes without any training.

What puzzles me the most is why Arteta is getting away with less scrutiny than Emery ever did from the media, the fans and the Kroenkes. It really makes no sense at all.

I think the scrutiny will begin in earnest now that fans are back into grounds. Most journalists are pretty reactive with their reporting, hardly ever coming up with their own foresight.

As results and performances continue to be poor the unrest within the ground will grow. The media will then start with the critical analysis. It is already in evidence with the TV pundits to a small degree.

I think we all agree that having no crowds in probably saved Arteta last season , the punters listen to the pundits so i can see the mood changing quickly should the results still suffer.

If the home support wanted him gone they would of stayed until the final whistle to let him know

And if the game was at the souless bowl I would agree with you, but the game is at their place and they will want to put on a show in front of their fans who are still buzzing to be back at games again. Also I think that if this was later in the season there would be more chance of west brom rotating to help their promotion push, but right now it is all about momentum for them

I do think WBA beat us on Wednesday. I can't see where there's any fight in this team.

Lets be honest - a few seasons back this would never have been the televised cup game

Sky can smell blood and I think West Brom will too

I'm dreading going up there to be honest. Hoping for that rare moment of cup excitement but expecting to get home in the early hours thinking "how much of a c.unt have I been wasting my time on that"

A few seasons ago we weren't a Round 2 of the League Cup team.

According To @SamiMokbel81_DM, Mikel Arteta is expected to field a strong team against West Brom in the Carabao Cup - a move which represents a change of tact from the club. #Arsenal

About fucking time too.

Hopefully shit for brains has learned from last season's debacle at Southampton in the FA Cup.

Accepting our place as a modern day Everton. Out of the league before the end of August, no European football and hoping for a decent domestic cup run

The only thing I can add is "what is a strong team" for us these days?

If he means Linda the Tofu Queen at right back, any one of his flyweight centre halves, Elneny, Nelson and AMN then I'd beg to differ

I'm sure Ramsdale will be given his chance and Odegaard too. Would like to see Tavares start too

Great news.
Finally a game I can look forward to this season.
Luckily I’m away for the Man City exhibition one at the weekend.
