Is There A BIG Signing Ahead ?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

That would be me :). Man i should so replace Pat Rice. Eduardo will play in a Reyes like position, hopefully with more success.

I would really like Arsene to try the 4 3 3 formation this season. Eduardo on the left, RVP on the right and Martins or Adebayor at the centre with Cesc and Rosicky feeding them from the midfield.

 F*ck this playing Eduardo or, worse again, Van Persie on the left wing shite - that is the square pegs in round holes crap that we are seeing far too often in the last few years with Rosicky & Hleb being played on the wing when both are centre midfielders. These boys are born goalscorers and should be maximised by playing them as strikers where they are at their best. Much as I would love to see Eto join I would be happier to see us sign Queresma because at least we would then be buying a proper winger and not trying to do things on the cheap as usual. Failing that Reyes on the wing would be good for me

Quaresma isnt a realistic option. He is not an Arsene type of purchase. I personally am not too keen on using Eduardo on the wing either, given his scoring record, but knowing the way Arsene does things, its the most realistic. He has stated that Eduardo is versatile, one can see where he is going by that. I would be extremely surprised if he goes and buys an out and out winger. Theres no way in hell hes gonna buy Quaresma.

Gunnerz4life,

What? What? What? Who suggested it first? :? Please read below:

'Watching the clips on YouTube, he seems very left-footed to me - although he did score a couple with his right foot, he tended to move the ball back on to his left most of the time.

Do you think Wenger might be considering playing him as a left-sided forward in a 4-3-3 formation, along with Adebayor central and Van Persie right? That might be the reason he hasn't (thus far) signed a left winger.'

Now that was what I wrote on another thread when we first were mooted to be buying Da Silva back on Monday 2nd July!!!!

So, it's not you but ME that should be replacing Pat Rice as Arsene's right-hand man!! 8)

TEACHER'S PET? ME? NO MATE, OUR SCHOOL WAS RUFF!!

Post by I Hate Hleb »

TRUE STORY COMING UP GUYS.

FRED DONNELLY, WHO USED TO BE HEAD OF THE LADIES SET-UP UNTIL LAST SEASON, USE TO BE MY P.E. TEACHER!!

FROM WHAT I CAN REMEMBER, HE WAS FROM SOMEWHERE UP NORTH BUT CAME TO OUR SCHOOL IN EAST LONDON SOMETIME IN THE 1970'S. HE WAS A FANTASTIC TEACHER AND A GREAT BLOKE WHO ALWAYS HAD A LAUGH WITH THE LADS.

HE EVEN ALLOWED HIS FAVOURITES - OF WHICH I'M PROUD TO SAY I WAS ONE BECAUSE HE LOVED MY ENTHUSIASM, IF NOT MY ABILITY  - TO CALL HIM BY HIS FIRST NAME ONCE WE REACHED THE FOURTH AND FIFTH YEAR.

MR. DONNELLY EVEN ALLOWED US TO TAKE A WHOLE DAY OFF SO THAT WE COULD GO TO WIMBLEDON TO WATCH THE TENNIS AND, WHEN IT WAS RAINED OFF, ARRANGED IT SO WE COULD GO ANOTHER DAY INSTEAD.

I WISH I COULD HAVE TOLD HIM PERSONALLY, BUT FRED DONNELLY WAS A HERO TO ME AND I'M SURE MANY THOUSANDS OF OTHER SCHOOL BOYS WHO CROSSED HIS PATH WHILE HE WAS A TEACHER.

WRITING THIS HAS BROUGHT BACK SO MANY MEMORIES THAT I'M ALMOST IN TEARS THINKING BACK!!

OH WHAT HAPPY DAYS THEY WERE.
